Torn muscle, tendon or ligament pain for weeks?

Post by Winston »

A few days ago, while playing ping pong, I ran hard and fast into the wall while trying to run down a ball. When that happened, my arm was twisted and a bit dislocated since it was extended when I crashed into the wall.

Then I felt a sore muscle under my right armpit and right chest. Usually pulled muscles go away in a day or two. But this one got worse to the point where if I lay down at night, it becomes excruciating, to the point where it's hard for me to move.

This happened last year when I first met Dianne and we went to a resort to swim, and when I pulled myself out of the pool, something behind my rib cage popped or snapped, and I had this excruciating pain that lasted for weeks.

What is this? A torn muscle? Is there another term for it?

I googled this problem and it said to put ice or heat on the injured area for a few weeks.

Dianne wants me to see a doctor. How do I know how serious this is?

Last time it happened, it took weeks for it to go away. It seems much deeper than a pulled muscle or charlie horse.

Hi all,
Amazingly, after spending a few hours with my baby Angelo, my muscle pain symptoms were greatly subsided. Wow. Perhaps Angelo, or babies in general, have healing properties? Or maybe Angelo is destined to be a healer?

I've had that before when i'm trying to stretch out my muscles after sitting for hours on the computer. When I'm about to stretch my legs, especially my lower leg, i feel some sort of pain which subsides after a couple of seconds.

I think that's called a Charlie Horse, which can be excruciating, but only temporary.

A torn tendon or muscle lasts for weeks and is excruciating.
