so you're saying that a good looking asian from america would do better than most of the asian guys who actually grew up in France since there is more added novelty?

truth is, a high quality asian guy would do well anywhere. even in france, most of the asian men probably aren't that handsome, so they would still have trouble with the upper echelon of french women.

I am in Paris now after almost five years stateside. I knew France pretty well before but, what is apparent is women are clearly have better bodies, nice legs and generally much prettier! Thought, I am not an Asia guy I do get the impression that if I were I would have a better change of landing a defend looking woman compared to the US. I have actually seen Asian guys with une francaise.
. just from my observation in the 7 weeks of being here women are harder to meet! My guess its the more Americanization. The smart phone facebook zombies are everywhere here which is know to reduce the need to make face to face contact with people even in this densely populated city.
. When I first started coming here in 1998 Paris resembled much less like the the states. Also there was the franc and not the euro. Maybe it can be more frustration here because you will surely get non stop attractive women passing you on the street. You probably need to have a good working French skill set to really hit it off but, I had a girlfriend within 2weeks the first time I came. My only advice is to spend enough time here to meet people and have at least basic communication down. I can't say much now because I am myself trying to get my swagger back!........will re post an update!

Nope, French women have the same Western standard of beauty and would find majority of Asian guys to be ugly. If anything, Asian men would be better in a part of the US like SoCal than anywhere in France since the Asian population is much higher there and Asians are seen as mainstream. For the record, I've seen numerous examples of good-looking white American women with Asian men, but have NEVER seen an attractive French woman with an Asian man. It seems like Asian men really are the bottom of the barrel in France.

Asian men wouldn't be able to get decent looking French women because attractive women in France would think they're too good for Asian men; after all, most Asian men would be considered ugly in France. Also, many French women have unattractive faces, so even if they are skinnier on average, their faces will still not be good looking.

Question to everyone. How come the french people I see on TV and YouTube seem very down to earth, rational, intelligent and mellow? Does that mean french people are easier to vibe with then Americans or British? They definitely don't seem toxic or arrogant or assholish at all. Am I right? And they would probably agree with us about america too. So how come France isn't a happier abroad destination? French people also seem more freethinking and not brainwashed by the US media too.

LOL asking an Italian to talk about the French is like asking a North Korean to say something nice about South Koreans :D

No, jokes apart, Frenchies are complex people, too, a bit like the Italians. They draw a deep sense of satisfaction by learning new stuff and reasoning, philosophising. Many of them take that self-awareness a bit too far and come across as opinionated and arrogant. I have met a fair share of them.

One thing I did notice during my time in London, which has a massive French diaspora ranging from the semi-illiterate helper in a boulangerie, to the multi-millionaire multi-PhD portfolio manager in the City. The divide between Frenchmen from the city, especially Paris, and the myriad of tiny towns scattered across rural France, is very stark, much starker than in Italy.

One of my best friends and former business partner, married with a Filipina met while visiting Davao, is an extremely intelligent, engaging and mellow kind of guy. The perfect kind of guy with whom to sit in front of charcuterie and red wine and talk about anything, from Japanese manga to international politics, from simple office gossip to to the evolution of functional languages in quantitative finance. He is also a disarmingly honest person, incapable of genuine bad feelings or bad intentions. A real gem, as a friend. Last but not least, he is an extremely accomplished IT professional, graduated from a top 3 French engineering school and making just south of $300K a year, working for a large hedge fund.

And yet, as I know him very well, I know that the reason why he is like this is that it's because he's a product, albeit one of an "outstanding quality", of his upbringing in rural Brittany. His father is a former mason and pig farmer. His mother cannot even write properly. His brain took him so far in life, but his soul has always belonged to that simple rural setting, which taught him some very decent life values.

I could cite more examples of Frenchmen who are like that. Of course I also met some toxic, obnoxious Frenchmen and Frenchwomen. I like to think that, even in this time and age, the better of them, at least as potential friends, are those who hail from rural France.

A Frenchman must always be first. An Italian, second.

French culture is the most sophisticated, most evolved, and most egalitarian of the world.

Well, they were a beacon of civilisation and culture much more recently than we ever were. Don't think, though, that they are all arrogant and with a sense of superiority. They tend to be too self-aware to be naively confident. Many of them harbour an incredible sense of insecurity. You see it every time Macron or any other President touches a hot topic and they revolt like it's French Revolution all over again. As a melting pot, it's also a much more unstable and ready to explode society, compared to Italy.

I wouldn't wanna be a Frenchmen in France, right now.

Well I like both the Italians and the French. They are special in their own ways.
Although, I never liked the French way of doing business. They are slow and inefficient as hell. The French are so horrible, I sometimes wonder how they manage to even run their country.
The Italians are bit faster than the French though in doing business, but still inefficient relative to German, Anglo standards.
I know. I had to do business with French Shipping Line and a Northern Italian freight forwarding company in sending cargo for some Korean diplomat.

Well France is a very liberal, feminist country so I would think it would be very tough for an Asian guy to thrive in. I think Asian guys would do better in an Eastern European country like Poland or Hungary.

Better off going to Latin America or Portugal to find women. They are more fun and got "Junk in the Trunk". The French women, some of them are super ugly and they are stuck up. I don't think Latinos have any prejudice towards us "Chinos" or "Koreanos", that's what they call Asian men.

I have admiration for both cultures but definitely love and admire Italy much more. France was indeed a beacon of civilization until relatively recently but Italy was the birthplace of the Renaissance as well as the origin of all Romance culture ever since the expansion of Rome. Italy undoubtedly has a special place in the history of Europe.

When it comes to my own attitude towards French and Italian people, the French are more like a people who I admire for their superior sophistication but that admiration is always from a healthy distance while Italians are a people who I admire for the same reason and whose company I greatly enjoy too. I've met quite a few people from both of these nationalities, mostly from when I was enrolled in immersive language school in Spain. I'm not going to lie: the French students were strange, somewhat aloof and quite frankly a bit difficult to deal with. I didn't enjoy interacting with them despite their high level of culture. But the Italian students? They were all extremely friendly and sociable and welcomed others into their social circles and were a joy to be around. I prefer Italians over Frenchies by far.

It's not that French people are weirder than Italians. It's Italians who have a special gift for warming up quickly to any social situation.

They might be insecure, not know anybody, not even speak the foreign language they're learning (as in your case) but they feel that "Italianness" is a positive stereotype hard to die: they feel that, so long they play their hyper-extroverted, histrionic, friendly-to-all personas to a tee, everything will turn out fine. It's as if most European kids, even the Spaniardsa, the Portuguese, the Greek, would always play safe when in an unknown environment. Italians would play an exaggerated version of themselves.
