Hachik is a stereotypical Armenian name. In Russia and Ukraine, anyone who looks to be from the Caucasus or the Middle East, or the Mediterranean Europe are considered Hachik or Hach for short. It is the worst insult a Slavic girl can give a man and Italians are lumped in as Hachiks very often.

I am thinking this is why @Hypermak is so sensitive and insecure about dating in Ukraine. He knows Italians are not held in such high regard by the local girls. Even though Italy is a developed nation, Italian men often look too Middle Eastern for their taste.

All ex-Soviet republics, including Russia, have a long cultural love story with Italy and France. All those classical buildings you might have seen in St Petersburg were designed by Italian (sometimes French) architects.
