Haven't you seen any sitcoms or TV shows or movies? Without conflict or drama or personality conflicts, no show would be entertaining and no one would watch. Would you watch a TV show or movie with no conflict? Sure you can watch a documentary for that. But for drama there has to be conflict. It's part of good stories. Even Shakespeare has character conflicts and dilemmas, otherwise they wouldn't be great right? Isn't 100 percent peace boring to people?

I understand all that, @Winston but...drama for the sake of drama? The same user impersonating 2 characters to advertise his lame website and "cultural activities" around the world? Of course people have different tastes but I am personally not finding StanfordGuy/Spencer funny, not "comedy duo funny" at least.

As for @Contrarian Expatriate, he does contribute constructively to the discussion as his travelling experience is undeniable. However he goes off the self-aggrandising tangent quite often and, when that happens, he starts mocking and belittling whoever doesn't share his opinion. Even poor @Shemp who had a modicum of interest in his predicament is now seeing what a pathetic man he is.

I haven't been on HA for long but, for the little I have seen browsing random old threads, there have definitely been better times. I hope they will be back.

I am Italian like Publicduende and I live in Metro Manila like Publicduende. I write English well and I am proud of it. I may even agree with PD on some aspects of life and I can imagine why he is not keen to be back to this forum. That doesn't mean I am him or his "sock puppet".

As for who entertains who, I can tell you neither you or your primary character in here are funny, or entertaining. It's not my style, to steal someone's identity or personality, online or offline. I have plenty to be and share on my own. What have you got, apart from trolling an online forum and pretending to be a successful "cultural traveler" with a degree from Stanford university? I've been trying to escape this miserable dumpster fire forum for years, but believe it or not, everything else I've tried is worse, so I keep coming back. I don't actually know what I'm looking for in a forum. Probably just some daily social stimulation, such as normal people get from the local bar or cafe. Yeah I bumped into this forum for escapism, too, and to improve my written English. In my profession it's not exactly easy to find Shakespeares, so the only way is to practice with written conversations, such as those in an online forum. I like having fun with the ladies so the dating abroad angle was quite interesting for me. I have travelled a lot yet I think I don't have the wealth of experience as many other long-time posters. That doesn't mean I can't tell well-based advice and wisdon from bullshit and fakery.

I think you're a 100% genuine poster. We might not agree on everything since we have different cultural backgrounds and experiences, but certainly you're here with all the good intentions.

For what I have read about PD's past posts and having met him personally in Pasay, I think it's nothing but a compliment to be likened to him, or his writing style. I just don't want to be confused with a person who is not me. Even in that couple of hours we spent talking, I could tell I was maybe agreeing on 50% of his ideas and opinions.

He did say that I was still "fooling around" with the girls and squarely in my "honeymoon period", which neither of us found anything wrong with. I think he is far more cynical than me on life, the Philippines, even his job. One thing I can assure, you @Winston or anybody in here, he bears no grudges towards anyone. He is just moving on with his life, with his wonderful fiancee, and he probably wants to keep it that way.

As to HA, thanks for considering me a quality poster, but my problem is still my written English. I am still quite slow at writing a good post in 100% correct English. These few paragraphs which I am about to complete took me more than 10 minutes. I am still too unsure about my written English to be able to write an original thread. If I have time, I will be limiting myself to making contributions. I am guilty as charged for indulging a bit too much on diatribes with @Contrarian Expatriate, I take in your advice of trying to write something positive, constructive, or not write anything at all.
