Re: Stag from the UK
A little jealous of you already there, bloke, due to the apparent ease with which your countrymen emigrate.

All the best, and welcome!

where you thinking of hitting Stag? and doing what for £
Re: Stag from the UK
Thanks.
I'm able to move around easily within the EU, so will probably relocate there (cost of living is low).
I make my living online (freelancer), so location isn't really an issue, just need a internet connection.

Re: Stag from the UK
Welcome from a fellow Brit.
Have you considered Southern Europe? There are a lot of location independent people here. This part of the world offers low cost of living, low crime rates (for serious stuff at least), good food and endless sunshine. If you like to smoke or drink then in Spain cigarettes are from £3.50 for a pack of 20 and red wine is actually cheaper than Coca Cola (I kid you not!!!!).

I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

Re: Stag from the UK
The South does sound good. Do you know the average price for a half decent rental home?
Re: Stag from the UK
I think, you will have to make a trip to see yourself.
Southern Europe like Spain might be an option, others are more into Southern-Eastern part of EU, like Greece and especially Cyprus.
I heard also some good comments about Bulgaria.
Next option might be to check out the Western part of Turkey which is not EU, but nearby, like the city of Izmir not so far away south of Istanbul or other cities popular with Western European people.
I heard also good comments about Morocco, one of the few Muslim countries which are still normally functioning in Northern Africa.

I heard that young Greek women are hot. Any truth to this?Yohan wrote:I think, you will have to make a trip to see yourself.

Andalucia is good for Brits, lots of other British there and the Spanish are more used to speaking English if you're not wanting to focus too much on learning a new language.Stag wrote:The South does sound good. Do you know the average price for a half decent rental home?
I think Spain is nice but might be a little boring if you're not in a big city.
There's always Eastern Europe top places being Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania.
Problem is in those countries you will have to learn the local language (exception of Polish in big cities speak good English).
I remember going to Prague 7 years ago, English is horrible and it has become so touristy it's worse than Disneyland.

Thanks all for the replies.
Btw, I came across a site that shows you the approx cost of living by European cities:
http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/re ... region=150
Anyone fancy Serbia?

I think Romania would be interesting and they speak decent enough English.Stag wrote:Thanks all for the replies.

But he was asking particularly about EU-countries...eurobrat wrote:No, Croatia is on the Euro now. Steer clear mate.Yohan wrote:Better to consider Croatia...Stag wrote: Anyone fancy Serbia?
For sure, if I had the choice between Serbia and Croatia - I would look for a nice place along the coast in Croatia.
Also easier claiming UK benefits as long as you stay in the EU-zone, like health care, retirement allowance etc.
