You won't even find a place like that, without being an hour away from the city center of Boston, almost two hours if it's NYC. And there are no F.K.K's in America. But sure, we've got good food, if you know where to look. My German acquaintance, from Cologne BTW, told me about his pals, who'd gone to graduate school at Boston University, MIT, etc, all say the same thing ..."Boston sucks! Boston sucks! No women, just a lot of attitude problems!" The only thing they got out of their experiences in America was hopefully the schools' name recognition value in Europe, for their careers.

Actually, make that 40 minutes but the rest stands.

Ignore the butthurt responses, i don't know what's up with these guys. I appreciate your honesty and "self" criticism when discussing the crime and other stuff.

yeah some stations in europe leave a lot to be desired. Like i've suggested, after wwii aesthetic values have suffered at the hands of the "left" IMO.
1)Too much of one thing defeats the purpose.

MarcosZeitola wrote:Born in a country neighboring Germany, the world you describe is the world I wished to escape ever since I was a teenager. It is not the worst place in the world, but as a part of the West it is naturally similar to the Anglosphere in many ways. The differences between Germany and America are far smaller then those between America and the Philippines, Cambodia or rural China. I wasn't aware there was any sort of "hype" about Germany, although I am aware PAN (Peter Andrew Nolan) went there and he seems to like it quite a bit. He did, however, get thrown in jail for some time in Germany so it's certainly not been Heaven on earth even seeing it through his rose-colored glasses.

Thank you, Starchild, for writing an informative post. Although little of what you observed is new to me, it's interesting for me to see how you experience Western Europe through the eyes of an Indian national.
Thanks Marcus for your comparison with your homeland and Philippines and now i fully understand why. The people in Germany are very honest, good guys overall..much nicer than Indians, however, They are not as friendly as Filipinos though....I think no one can come close to the friendliness of Philippines :). In Germany, you can't just show up and expect to make friends and get dates the next day....It has a Process of its own it seems :).

The life you are having in Philippines...I don't think I can have that in Germany...You settled is quite fast and found the girl of your dreams. I like white women but i don't think i can get one that i really like that easily or I have to import it from eastern europe :)

...I will update

I am from Austria (EU) originally, the little neighbour of Germany. I left 1976 for Asia and never came back, except for a few days in 1992 to move my late father to Japan to live with us.

As said by Marcos already who is also European from somewhere nearby to Germany, nothing what you write is really new for me, no surprise at all to read your comment.

My native country of Austria is a good food producer and for sure, restaurants offer much better food in Bavaria and Austria compared to the Northern part of Germany.

Yes, Sunday is a problem in Europe - everything closed.

Yes, these few available public restrooms are a problem too.

Sightseeing and history, I would say, European cities offer much more than cities in USA. All is relative, depends what you compare with what. If you do some short trips outside of the industrial area where you are now, you will see, Germany has some very nice scenery.

You are only a few days now in Germany and it is the beginning of winter time in an industrial area, the only place in your area I remember which still looks a bit nicer than the other cities around is Koblenz. Really not a good season now to feel comfortable. It's getting cold and rainy.

Women? Well I never made it to a girlfriend even for 30 minutes. Continental Europe is a feminist society, however less hateful in rhetoric compared to USA.
I also had an invitation to work in Austria also, but chose Germany as it has much bigger economy, now it seems nothing would have mattered. I believe, people are just asleep - Travelling in a two stroke engine on a good flat road is not the highest goal of humanity :) ....I plan to explore the entire europe in coming months once i get my residence card.

I must also add, that people like everywhere else just wanna live and let live. The problem is Capitalism, Currency manipulation
combined with high cost of living, cold weather, rain and it takes its toll on human soul. I never want to work in a corporation, I came here to explore but due to visa have to work in a company for some months.

The corruption in Asia is due to currency manipulation and making Euro and Dollar Artificially high....Unless, one is a millionaire or earn six figures life here seems same as back home minus the food and weather. :)

I don't understand the Hype. The intellectual, Conspiracy, Alternative minded people will be suffocated here.
1. For everything you have to pay, even for pee'ing and sh**ting you have to pay and even then the toilets are not that clean. 90% of the products in shops are pure utter garbage. Not a single good restaurant that you could find by just walking over, you have to fork it through reviewed restaurant in trip adviser, the surprise of just walking over to a place and finding great food is non-existent. There is no shopping on sundays...utter BS...you can't do anything on sundays by law ..The religion BS is deliberately imposed here
2. Cologne is as dirty, crowded as Mumbai, Manila ...ok not that dirty but only marginally better, like 30%.... BGC in Manila is much cleaner though for a comparison....there are like cigarette butts everywhere plus left out food packets, combined with extreme cold and the stench we experience in Manila, can be found in some places in Cologne as well.
That's all the result of wwii, slowly becoming a third world country in many respects unfortunately. Anyone trying to put order is disqualified as being the devil himself of course.
4. The food sucks, the food sucks, the food sucks.....ahhh..I'm feeling better now, if only i could shout it out loud here, that man cannot survive in bread and butter alone like in medieval times.
Lol Germany has great things but one of them is definitely NOT gastronomy. If they put the same effort they put in other areas they would do great but for some reason it doesn't happen. And heck, for and indian guy (used to some of the best food in the world) it must be shocking lol.
Kartofeln und sauerkraut mein herr?
For food that rivals india's you have to go to Spain.
5.This is where it all started, the home of the Rothchilds, Banking System, the Euro, Illuminati, freemasons, The seat of real control of the world and now I understand why...The vegetation in Europe is singular, The nature don't speak to you like in made out third world countries.....they have to conquer prosperous lands with fiat currencies to rule the world by con.
Careful not to blame germans for some of the j**s deeds. It's a common mistake.
If the Gold standard is introduced, Many so called third world countries could rise again easily.
I'm not a big fan of gold but yeah, Gadafhi was about to introduce a pan-african gold standard if i'm not mistaken.
Like in rest of the world...The smartphone zombie selfie crazed women are everywhere :)....I would say nearly 70% of women here are smartPhone Zombies.

1People are nice.....Who says Germans are cold...They are way more louder in Train's and Buses than the Filipinos and Indians even...They shout, talk and smile all the time. like in rest of the world...Its the artificial matrix that have been imposed on them with currency that is weighing on them like the rest of the world. People are same everywhere...They all want to have a good time and be free and live free. They are honest - way honest than Indians, Filipinos.
2. The women are incredibly beautiful here...Just the way I like or may be I'm Asian I'm biased towards white skin..and white women are exotic to me..The way the society is set up...dating a women would not be as easy as in Manila, I tried online dating and with my strategy of brute force..messaging like 500 girls a day :) i managed to get couple of replies and that to from women who have been to Asia.....I'm getting lots of replies from Eastern Europe, US, Scandinavian countries though on account of me being in Germany and they wanting to travel here :)
Yeah people are nice. Again the 'soulless' german stuff is nothing but propaganda since wwii. The girls are pretty darn cute and their behavior and education is miles better compared to anglo girls. If I had more time I would've spent a couple years over there. A bit too much of the punkish stuff sometimes but again, it's a historical consequence.
I'm not exotic nor stand out here due to desperate illegal immigrants, the boat people from Africa, turkey, Asia ruining it for everyone else. Now, every other Indian is considered an immigrant or taxi driver or looking for "work" to "survive" so dating online is not that easy.
Germans have lost respect for people from third world countries as we have nothing to offer but to leech from them, We don't have much to give but to take take take.......
Why the f**K do people from India, Turkey, Africa travel all the way to Europe just to live on social benefits or drive a taxi....How dump, Ignorant, stupid can one be for that...Why do people travel just to survive...They should travel to explore, gain rich insights, know people...
+1
Very correct. Thanks for the clarification. Yes. Germans are cool, family oriented folks. If one has a soul...It doesn't need 100 years to figure out a place.

I have long long ago left myself out of in need for food, shelter, work to "survive" mode which I know is a con with artificial shortage and manipulation...Death is just a fear con :)....That is why I have all the time in the world to observe Germany easily....I'm not here to survive so that it will takes ages for me to understand it..:) ...

Immigration to another country for mere food, survival or "better future" is very dangerous and it ends up with Winston, Zboy, Bioning as after effects of it... who feel themselves as neither here nor there...The feeling of disconnect of second generation immigrants come alive when one dedicates their life for mere survival. Its Ignorance.

Many second generation Asians, Africans feel disconnected in America, Europe because of the Ignorance of their parents, sorry for being harsh but in one way my parents did the same thing.

One should travel to explore, gain knowledge, know people, explore culture etc If ever i get married and have kids in Europe, they would never feel disconnected to Europe as I never came here for mere survival, " for better future" they will never be born out of Ignorance.

If immigrants come with higher ideals to a host country, everyone gains...The entire humanity gains. This living on social benefits, committing crime is so low life...Its such a shame. However, I know the reason why immigrants come to Europe but its pure Ignorance.

Two Stroke engine, flat roads, health insurance, malls, even making lots of money is not the end goal of human race otherwise Europeans would not go to Asia.

At least here the consensus is that Germany a better place to live than the states if you are looking for more than just making a lot of money.
I never spent as much time frequenting any other non jazz or music related forum as this one! .....hence, Its still a Relatively good place! Thanks. I'm just saying it as it is....Many people from third world countries don't go to Europe for exploring, understanding and gaining rich insights from them. Most go for "better life", money....They never learn anything just survive....My mind is free, so I have plenty of time to understand Germany/ Europe more closely.

Perhaps I missed some bits of your story, but from what I remember you were in Manila living the high life on your savings. On an Indian IT salary, it might have taken you 2 years to save the cash you spent in the Philippines in what, 3 weeks? 2 months? In Cologne, in 9 months of a relatively frugal life, you will have saved enough to fly back to the Philippines (also courtesy of the 25/30 days paid holidays you get on an Euro job) and do that kind of life again.

So what are you complaining about?

That you have only been in Germany for a handful of days and already speak like an entitled white supremacist speaks volumes about the kind of frustration and (broken) sky-high expectations you are experiencing. It's absolutely normal to feel lonely and frustrated on your first impact with a new life/work/social situation, and few here would deny you sympathy and support. You really have to tune down the rage talk, though.

Those immigrants may be poor or rich, model citizens or utter criminals, they will not affect your status or the way people perceive you. I have never found a place where Indians are associated to severely negative stereotypes. If it's the same country, Germany, we're talking about, the hall of shame is all about Albanians, Romanians, Nigerians and a few others, certainly not Indians.

You can't hide behind such a lame excuse. In the next few weeks, months are perhaps years, you will be solely seen and ultimately judged for what you are, or at least for how you behave in your environments of choice: your workplace, your local community, your social circle, etc. So, behave and you will get somewhere. :)

Yohan wrote:If India and Philippines are so much better for you, why did you move to Germany, this is the question.

As you are obviously able to enjoy a superior living standard in Manila, why to move to Germany's industrial center area?

I mean, what did you expect in Germany? Did you not check it out before your departure from Asia? Is this the first time in Europe?

The income of ordinary people, comparing Germany with Philippines is now, considering GNI per capita, 14 times higher in Germany, Philippines is a poor country with millions of children living in the street - your income which what makes you maybe a rich person in India and Philippines is likely just an ordinary income within Western Europe.
Common, India and Philippines is not better....That's Ignorance, The entire world has issues..GNI per capita is all manipulated by currencies, seriously Germany does not deserve 14 times better ratio than Philippines. The countries are third world by manipulation. As soon as countries evolve they create economic crisis like in Asian crisis of early 90s..otherwise, Thailand, Philippines would already be developed.

I'm in a industrial area due to stupid visa issues. Once i get residence permit...I can move to any place in Europe.

You are missing the point....If ones life goal is to ride on four stroke engine, get health insurance, live in a house, get a job, make money, then GNI, EUR, money would matter...I'm not here for a "comfortable" life :) ...I don't care for good life at all nor money......

I'm from a third world country but I don't need the first world life ...god no..:)

Make no mistake ...99.999% of people who come to Europe are for travel, survival, "work", "good life"....I"M NOT HERE FOR THAT.

The really deep core thing why I'm really here would not make much sense to you, i guess...that's why I wrote the other things..... ok...here it is since you asked :) ...I'm here to destroy the force of darkness, find people who would join me in fighting the things that would really free humanity for ever..The entire human race is going away from their true path....aka trans-humanism

I'm here to find people who will get it...as Germany/Europe is much more open to newer ideas ...I think they have the real good chance to escape from this prison planet than most...If I could create groups that would really understands this Dark Force and its hold on earth which Winston feels as Murphy Law..Then humanity can be saved. ....Yeah..I know how this sounds....yes...I don't need meds or I'm not smoking anything.... :D :D

Starchild, I think you might have a kind of Charlie Brown/Winston Wu/Murphy's Law thing going on for you. Why? Because I remember so many bizarre things were happening to you towards the tail end of your stay in Gramercy, things I've never come close to experiencing in all the time I've spent in Makati. Your posts were very entertaining but at the same time, I was shaking my head wondering how can the guy be so unlucky and have all that stuff go down. In theory, you should had it made. You were making enough money doing your work to afford the rent in that condo and to live it up with dates, intellectual pursuits, etc. Since you grew up in an even more extreme third world environment, you would understand how to thrive where first worlder newbies might get confused and make a lot of mistakes. It seemed like you had it all. Then one crisis after another and boom, you are forced to leave like that. Really bizarre. And now Germany is as bad as the third world? I've only been to Frankfurt a few times briefly each trip and Munich for a week during one Oktoberfest. But I sure never got the impression that those cities were anything like the third world. However, Billy whose from Germany tells me Berlin is considered quasi third world by Germans. Anyway, your posts are entertaining. Keep em' coming.

No. I was working from home for a US company earning very good amount. I was also working while I was in Manila from home. I can work easily from Europe from home, but Visa is not that easy that is why I have to grind now.

Dude...You can't fool me with high life BS in Germany and compare it with Philippines...I have heard enough of first worlds complaining about third world and can't seem to digest a third world guy complaining about first world countries BECAUSE....I"M NOT HERE FOR THE MONEY NOR FOR THE "COMFORTABLE LIFE" ...

I'm not here to ride on a four stroke engine on an auto bahn or make "MONEY" ...I'm not here for the only thing Europe can offer...Good Life and Money..GET IT? ....I'm not here for that....

...Perhaps, some other ignorant fools would love developed vs developing non-sense. I'm not chasing the stupid "dream" ....That is why I don't need 10 years to figure it out...One week is enough to figure out the BS.....

Many Europeans who have a soul have figured it out though and moved to places where they sync...some are still stuck on money and can't seem to see things that are so obvious...

Public, one word here on compartmentalization ... whenever I encounter a situation where I believe the food is subpar, I flip the switch which says ... steak (or hamburger), potatoes, eggs, butter, and black pepper. And thus, I'm able to enjoy myself in all kinds of culinary deserts out there. I recall one particular place where even the steak was dry, well, I had the staff microwave a slew of butter and I drowned it in it. Then I added the scrambled eggs; for me, that was a 3 pointer on the buzzer :)

If you can make good money in Manila or elsewhere, I really see no reason why to relocate to Germany.
For what do you need a visa? for what do you need EU anyway? As you said you are earning from an US-company.

In your case you might be better off without EU. Not clear why you decide to go to Germany, despite you could find a better living standard somewhere else.

I myself do not like to live in Europe, despite I am EU citizen (Austria) so i moved on to Malaysia, and soon after to Japan. About visa, working permit, it takes a while of course, but now I am permanent resident in Japan for life. I prefer Japan to EU, so I am now in Japan since more than 30 years.

Why I am in Philippines and Thailand only for vacation and consider future retirement in these countries? Because it is easier to earn money in Japan than in Philippines. Simply said, you need money move to advanced countries like Germany, USA, Japan etc. - and if you have already money or get a good income from somewhere, move to underdeveloped countries, because you can pay for comfortable life. - Often much more comfortable than in developed Western countries - IF you have already money ...

You mentioned rent in Philippines compared to Germany, php 40.000,- per month? Most Filipinos holding ordinary jobs have to work about 3 months for that, to pay only such a high rent...if they have a job... everything is relative...
