So true Ladislav. That's why I would not suggest visiting their family. But if you have to, tell them you're just there for a brief visit, or at least tell your girl that. I mean think about it, what will hanging out with their family do for you? What will you get out of it? Nothing of course, except pressure to give them money and treat them.

If you want to go out and have a good time, just go out with your date, or a few other friends (hopefully not ones that are broke). If you are out with a group and they all tell you that they're broke and want you to pay for everything, just say you can only buy them drinks and nothing else cause you don't have much cash on you that day.

And like Grazee said in her intro post in the Introduce Yourself section, let them know early on that you have nothing to give and have too many expenses of your own. That may make you seem poor but at least it'll weed out the ones that just want to use you.

You won't have much luck with Brazlian chicks on-line, I'm afraid.
The first reason is that 95+% of them speak only and only portuguese.

The second and most serious reason is Orkut. It's an old Google project that never really got off the ground in the west, but turned into absolute national mania in Brazil. Orkut is The Reason for the existence of the internet for 80+% of brazilians, the very reason why you find a lanhouse everywhere in Brazil and even oficial statistics claim that there are far more internet users than computers in Brazil. Millions of Brazilians use Orkut every day, it's highly addictive to them. Almost 100% of all girls I know in Brazil do have Orkut profile, some have several.

Orkut is a social network, not really a dating site. It shaped the on-line behavior of Brazilians. The mania indeed is to gain some kind of self-confirmation thru collecting hundreds of on-line friends, but this rarely leads to physical romance. Yes, it works the other way, people who know each other physically keep in touch via Orkut, as great many Brazilians know perfectly well how to use even advanced features of Orkut, but never came to terms with the concept of email. Brazilian popular internet are two applications - Orkut and MSN. Yahoo is often completely undeard of, I have to spell my Yahoo address on the phone letter by letter.

Sorry guys, Brazil is rather physical play, you go there and have fun. I've lived there for 15 years, now thinking of Phils.

Seems like some dating sites are better than others for certain countries, and it would be great to have that noted in your list of dating sites.
