The reason Winston's temper has been short lately

Post by Winston »

Hi all,
I guess I should explain something. One reason why my temper here has been short lately, is because my chronic coughing over the past week has been non-stop and annoying. It's made it hard to concentrate on anything and hard to work. It's especially bad when I lay down to try to sleep, then it suddenly gets 10x worse and won't stop! I hate it. Sometimes I cough so hard that I yell out at the end on the last cough, cause my throat is overly strained. As a result of this condition, my tolerance for annoying things and people has been so low, which is why I've been blowing up more often.

I've taken Robitussin but it doesn't seem to help much. My Tylenol Cold helps more, but it's almost out and came from the US, so it's not available here if I run out. What can I do? Should I go to the doctor and get penicillan shots or tablets?

In the US, I never got sick, except maybe once every two years, and even then, it only lasted for one or two days. But here in Angeles, I seem to get sick constantly, and when I do, it won't f***ing stop or go away! Why? I hate it here!

Back in January, after I returned from Taiwan, I was about to leave and start traveling around the Philippines, as I had planned back in 2008. But then on the day I arrived, Mr S asked me if I wanted to work at his friend's company. Since I needed the money, I couldn't say no, so I got bogged down in another obligation. Thus my 2008 plans were foiled yet again!

Because of money, we often have to sacrifice our precious time and lives. I hate that. So right now, I feel extreme frustration and helplessness, cause I can't even enact plans I made in 2008, cause something keeps coming up or getting in the way. As such, I feel like my life is slipping away, the years are going by, and I can't do what I want. I feel like I'm in a whirlwind where I have no control. That's why I've been in a bad mood and my chronic coughing and inflammation has only made it worse, as I can hardly work with such a constant distracting cough. Sheesh.

All this is getting to me, so that I am not in the mood when someone attacks me, insults me, or tries to make me feel bad by blaming me.

Have any of you felt this way? Thus I feel totally trapped and helpless. Every day that I get up, I think, "I'm wasting time! I'm not supposed to be here! It's filthy here. I don't belong here." So right when I get up, I have an immediately feeling of anger.

How come people like Rock can just buy a ticket and fly anywhere he wants, but when I try to, something keeps getting in the way?

For sure, Murphy's Law rules my life, not me. And that makes me very angry and resentful.

What can I do? How do I stop this vicious cycle and take back my life? I HATE feeling helpless while time slips by.

Plus I am highly sensitive to distractions, and that makes everything worse. I get too easily distracted, lose track of time, and then become angry about it later. Society is distracting cause everywhere you go, someone wants you to buy something, someone wants your money. Commercialism is both distracting and hijacks your mind and attention too. That's why I felt so much more peaceful in nature, cause no one and nothing is asking you to buy something or controlling your mind. When I drove from Utah to Las Vegas, it was a culture shock cause immediately in Las Vegas all sorts of unnatural things kept bombarding your mind. The peace and tranquility of nature was lost there.

You might want to look into using a Sauna. That helps you sweat out toxins in your body. Meds only help a bit. Also wash all your sheets and pillow covers. When you cough in your sleep you cover the pillow case in gems. Also look into buying a humidifier or some other device that cleans the air if this is a chronic problem.

Winston, if your coughing continues, you should see a doctor. I realize you are on a tight budget but having coughing spells for long periods of time should be something you want to get checked out by a doctor. Do you have a fever, or do you feel sick in any way, or is it just the coughing?

Chronic coughing usually means a need for antibiotics, especially if there is alot of flem and the color is off. See a doctor. It can't be more expensive than it is here in the states. Health is more important than anything else.

As for the wrong turns your life has taken, take a ticket and join the F'ing club ok :P

In the end, it does come down to money. I've got money issues as well. If i didn't, i wouldn't be here right now. Do i sometimes feel like i'm wasting my life....yes. But there is the good and the bad. Try to enjoy the good things in your life instead of thinking so much about the bad things. It helps.

Yeah get in line! I got my ticket I'm waiting for it to be punched...

Here in the old USA, they are talking about double digit unemployment until 2016 or so. There is some hiring happening but its mostly service sector low pay, low skill shit. This is why I need to get my certificates. There's a IT job posted on CL locally that pays only $11 a hour but they don't require certificates. I might look into that and then when I earn enough money to take my test I will take them. If they don't offer me increased pay after I get my certificates then I would walk.

I'm trying to eliminate money as the problem. It is the only problem. No wife, no kids, no rent, etc. Just need to earn some cache and I'll be straight.

I found another cause of my incessant coughing - air conditioners.

http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic125120.html

Yes! Air conditioning systems can increase chest and respiratory problems b/c germs and fungus can live, grow, and spread via the system. You might ask when the last time the filter was changed ... ?

Consider this: Central air-conditioning increases the chances of the spread of communicable respiratory diseases. There is no fresh air ventilation --- the same air re-circulates all the time. Ack!

I'd suggest you look into perhaps an herbal respiratory spray that you can inhale occasionally to clear your lungs. For example, sprays with COLLOIDAL SILVER provide an excellent natural alternative for the lungs, asthma, bronchitis to help you breathe easy and stay healthy.

Read more: Allergies Forum - dry cough and irritated airways from AC http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic125 ... z1M6UCh3Of
And these folks on Lonely Planet said the same thing, that air conditioners dry the air and dry your throat.

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/t ... ID=1888406

My cough does get noticeably worse when I'm in a room with air conditioning. I didn't know it would make it worse. But when I'm outside and walking it doesn't get as bad. Perhaps when my body is active, it has less time to cough. I've bought a clean air spray to help purify the air in my room.

Occassionally I have a fever, but it doesn't last long.

My doctor only costs 300p per visit (about $7), so it's not much. I'm not as tight on money as before. I have over 10k USD saved up now.

I've been trying to get my ultrasound lab tests done first, so I can see my doctor about both things, to hit two birds with one stone, which is more efficient. lol

So you guys also wake up and think, "What am I doing here? I'm wasting my time and life!"?

Isn't that terrible to wake up and think that everyday?

At least here I can go to the bars once in a while and have some fun and get it out of my system.

Oops Dianne just saw me writing this and tickled me for it. lol

But in the US, when you're depressed you can't do much except distract yourself by listening to whatever music makes you feel good and relax.

Have you noticed when you go out in some parts of the US, like Bakersfield, CA, that there is a depressed vibe in the air, like everyone is miserable but can't do anything about it or talk about it? It's really sick. It's like there are depressed zombies everywhere.

You don't feel that so much in nice places like Colorado, but in a lot of CA suburbs and in download Las Vegas, you do.

Get a full physical done including blood work which includes STD and HIV viral testing. I'm totally serious about this. A chronic cough isn't just related to pollution but could be a whole host of reasons that you haven't discovered yet.

8) i just moved from victrville california to arizona for now and that place is worse then victorville. The most borded up area i have ever seen. About every 5th house is
boarded up and most of the factories have left. The gas is 70 etns more then arizona and half the people are on welfare or disability. The others are gang members.
That place is going downhill fast and the detroit of california. There are a few good areas left in the us but in myopinion with all the welfare and manufactureing disapearing the currency maycollapse and be impossible to retire overseas. I have similar views as many on this forum people are generally wanting to be friends with
americans and would like to go here that are from asia. i have been treated bad here in the us and it seems foreign females are still attracted to us males for money and to go here for jobs and a happy life but the women here have a different attitude a lot of times and not as attactive as foreign in my opinion.

I think Americans in general have been depressed for quite some time now. There is a lot less joy, a lot less spontaneity in U.S. society than there used to be. Happiness is scripted and forced now, for example the way studio audiences are instructed to constantly clap and smile, and scoreboards and music cue fans when to applaud at sports events. In other words it's fake and hollow, like so much of the U.S. idiocracy. Society has been turned upside down by the Cultural Marxists and corporate fascists who run all the institutions, leaving little true freedom and pursuit of happiness for the great bulk of the non-rich.

Check out the video in the middle of this article: http://www.informationclearinghouse.inf ... e28078.htm I'm so glad I'm not young any more; public schools and colleges have been turned into mini-police states to go along with their hard-core feminist indoctrination.

Winston,

I can't confirm whether or not ACs can cause respiratory problems, but that seems like the case with me too. Every time I have it on at night, get dry mouth/throat and the problems persist for days even without the AC on. Sometimes, I might cough more, or get a really runny nose. The effects of the AC on me come almost immediately. So I guess it's the AC that's causing the problem(s).

Get the filter changed or something! If I'm getting these crazy symptoms here in the Shitty States of America, I can only imagine how you're feeling there in the Philippines. It ain't worth keeping on with the AC BS man.

Yes it's well documented that AC's can cause dry throats and coughing. Do an internet search for the connection. I showed you a few links already.

The thing is, if the AC is making me cough, does that mean I have an infection or not? I'm not sure. Plus, how come my AC didn't make me cough before?

When you say filter, do you mean the screen net board right under the cover of the AC? If so, I simply remove it and dust it off outside. If I don't, the AC air seems to get less.

Btw, how come when I go into offices and shopping malls, the AC in them doesn't make me cough as much? They have those modern ones that look like a horizontal thin bar on the wall. Are those better somehow? I have one of those old bulky rectangle ones.

I guess I'll ask my doctor about it next time. I'll email my scientific advisor about it as well.
