Happiness and bliss don't depend on your circumstances
Happiness and bliss don't depend on your circumstances
https://www.monroeinstitute.org/blogs/b ... -happiness
We can rewire the brain to be 24/7 happy and euphoric.
happiness is on the inside.
I know it sounds cliche, but we should cultivate bliss in our neural pathways and find true inner bliss.
I think hemisync is a great way to do that.
and remember,Serenity is more important than happiness.

If anyone believes this and has money, please send it to me as it will make no difference to your happiness while I think I'll be happier with the money.

I'd rather be angry or rageful at what is going on some of the time than be 24/7 happy and euphoric.

If your rich.. you can spend hundreds of millions lobbying for your self interest in Congress and buy your favorite politician friends "mini Versailles" to woo them and legally buy them out. Rich people can literally get away with murder because how much influence they have in their own government. Ghouls like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffet, and others are doing it on the daily basis. They don't even pay taxes and get government subsidies all the time.Pixel--Dude wrote: ↑August 16th, 2023, 2:53 pm@69ixine

I dont think money can buy happiness. I think this is why rich people never stop the pursuit of money. No amount is ever enough. I think these rich cunts are probably really empty inside. Devoid of happiness or any kind of soul. Money doesn't buy happiness, but not having any money at all can cause stress and consequent unhappiness.
I don't have much. But what I do have I'm extremely grateful for. I have a daughter who I love immensely, a girlfriend I love immensely and some great family and friends who support me and care for me. I consider myself fairly wealthy, despite not having much financially.
That's the true meaning of wealth. Something soulless cretins like Bill Gates will probably never understand.
My two cents worth.

Obviously love is a big part of happiness for you. I completely agree. Good relationships with friends and family are highly valuable, maybe even more than money. Not everyone has love.Pixel--Dude wrote: ↑August 16th, 2023, 2:53 pm@69ixine

I made a video on happiness.
The 5 pillars of happiness are:
1) Health (Mental and Physical)
2) Wealth (Enough Money)
3) Good Relationships
4) Right Location (Happier Abroad)
5) Do what you love to do

Re: Happiness and bliss don't depend on your circumstances
That's a good video and reflects exactly how I conceive happiness - an objective state of flourishing in most or all areas of life as opposed to simply a subjective mental state of euphoria that tricks you into believing that you're happy.kangarunner wrote: ↑August 17th, 2023, 5:25 amI made a video on happiness.

Aristotle called such an objective state of flourishing "eudaimonia" and regarded it as the highest good for which man should strive.
I agree with your five pillars of happiness.
1. Health is primordial. If you don't have a healthy body and mind, then you probably won't be able to go out and flourish or will at least be limited by your ailments. Health is arguably the greatest blessing.
2. Wealth is also important for freedom and therefore personal power in modern capitalist societies whose only goal is the pursuit of money. If you don't have money, you're trapped in an extremely limited expression of life and don't have the means to travel or do anything beyond the basics. Those who are born into substantial wealth or come to possess it at a young age are blessed.
3. Having good friends and people with whom to share beautiful moments and with whom to connect on a deeper spiritual level is essential. Even money can't bring us the greater fulfillment that good friendships and relationships do.
4. Right location means a lot. Some people can only feel wellbeing and flourish in certain environments while feeling completely stifled in others. Our other areas of happiness often heavily depend on this fourth factor. This is the fundamental essence of HappierAbroad.
5. You can only be truly happiness if you're doing what you love. If you get up every morning and go to a monotonous jerb that you hate like most people do, then life is only going to feel like a chore with punctuated episodes of escapism here and there. That obvious sucks and is no way to live. Those who are able to live doing what they love to do and making good money from it are truly fortunate.

Re: Happiness and bliss don't depend on your circumstances
@Lucas88 @Pixel--Dude I really appreciate both your responses. Very good to read. That's a good question. I would guess very few people in the world have all those things. I would probably say that having love in your life is equally important as having enough money.Pixel--Dude wrote: ↑August 17th, 2023, 9:25 amI also agree with the 5 pillars of happiness. I was wondering @kangarunner and @Lucas88 which of the 5 pillars you guys have in your life right now and which you are lacking. I will gladly share mine.
1. Health. I am 50/50 I feel healthy enough to get up and do what has to be done. My mental health fluctuates, but overall I think I'm alright. No point pissing and moaning about stuff.
2. Wealth. No. I don't have much financial wealth at all and if it wasn't for help I received financially from some others I would be f***ed. Money is something I find very hard to aquire. I can't function in the corporate world and I'm not apt at starting a business etc. I'm just nit equipped to survive in a capitalist society. It doesn't suit me at all. I would be more at home on a battlefield somewhere.
3. Good Relationships. Yes. I've been let down a lot by ex lovers, friends and family alike. But even so, I've managed to maintain some really good relationships with a small number of people who I consider part of my inner circle. Everyone else, most family included, are just associates whom I have nothing in common with.
4. Right Location. No. I'm stuck in the UK. Lack of finances and parental obligations keep me trapped here and living a life I don't even want to sustain. I should have moved abroad when I was a lot younger or taken advantage of the freedom I had and went travelling more. In saying that, I don't at all regret having my daughter. She gives me a sense of purpose and helping her navigate this shit show of a life we have gives my own life meaning.
5. Do what you love to do. No. I'm stuck in a shitty job I hate. I do it all for the kid. That's what it means to be a good father. Allow yourself to be held hostage by the state in order to provide your child with a half decent quality of life until they are old enough to carve their own path in life. As soon as my daughter is 18, and no longer my main responsibility, I intend to make a new life for myself abroad somehow. I've got a good few years to figure out the logistics...
I probably have the right location 100%. Or at least I know where in the world I'm happy. I definitely lack enough money and a solid group of friends simply because I've been a nomad. On doing work that is fulfilling or at least positive, I would say very few people in the world have this. I remember being in Bali on Kuta beach and learning to surf and there was a group of local Balinese dudes who were the surf instructors. They would crack jokes and talk about how they went out with the foreign guys to party. They would sell coconuts and teach surfing. I'm sure they have no money, but just looking at them so laid back and content really made me think about how f***ed up live-to-work Westernized countries are.

1.Health.I'm physically perfect,my vital signs and pulse always comes out perfect aswell as heart measurement.my mental health fluctuates,I have poor cognition due to ocd,and my ocd bothers me,but I am a overall happy go lucky guy that's almost never depressed really much.Pixel--Dude wrote: ↑August 17th, 2023, 9:25 amI also agree with the 5 pillars of happiness. I'd like to fix my ocd with neurofeedback.
2.wealth.nope.living in a group home on disability with no Job.I've learned to be happy without wealth. As the bible says, food ,shelter and clothing are enough for me.
3.I need more friends in real life.
4.right location.no,I do not like my city, much rather live in a interesting place like miami.
5.I;m not gonna do a job I hate,so don't have to worry much about that.

60k a year is more than enough to be happy, per person in my view. You can travel, eat good food, live in a good neighbourhood etc
