Italy has the highest number of international sex tourists in the world, says a leading organisation fighting child prostitution and sex trafficking.

ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking) estimates around 80,000 Italians travel abroad every year to pursue sex, particularly with young children.

The organisation also expressed alarm about the rising number of young Italians pursuing sex tourism saying the trend challenges traditional stereotypes with many offenders now aged between 25 and 35 years of age.

Marco Scarpati, president of the Italian branch of ECPAT said another disturbing revelation was that many sex tourists were not pathological paedophiles, which account for an estimated 5 per cent of the total, but those looking for an exciting experience abroad.

“These are travelling sex offenders,” Mr Scarpati told The Telegraph. “They are people who modify their behaviour when they travel far from home whether for work, pleasure, study or another reason.” “Now we have a new generation of very young Italians and that is very alarming.”

The organisation, which operates in 73 countries, estimates one million – or around one third – of the world’s sex tourists travel abroad to pursue sex with teenagers and young children.

According to the organisation, Italians are going primarily to Kenya, Santo Domingo, Colombia and Brazil to have sex with children as young as 12 and 14 and sometimes even younger. ECPAT estimates 35 per cent travel regularly for sex.

Mr Scarpati said a growing number of young Italians are using their use of English and access to the internet to pursue sex tourism.

He said because child prostitution and pornography are dominated by organised crime, the biggest challenge was getting international cooperation from police and judicial authorities to fight the problem.

Having pride in one's profession or ethnicity is not bragging, that's something natural. Where did he brag about his "sexual conquests with girls"? That's not in line with his character. What saddens me is not that I have pride in being a decent culinary pro. It's indeed a very hard profession and without passion nobody would survive their first few years. It's what I implied when you asked me info on PM.

What saddens me is that @Contrarian Expatriate is absolutely convinced that, since he chose to get a cosy government job which he probably never liked or performed with real passion, then anyone who chooses to do what they love, regardless of how much they earn, is automatically a "loser" and not worth his respect.

Case in point, if he does have a measure of financial well-being, it's because he never had to spend his money on a family, or or anybody else than himself. That's why he is so eager to pose as this decadent viveur who lives to please himself: he never had any other goals in mind, than pleasing himself.

The sheer idea that someone might choose differently, e.g. contemplate the idea of a committed relationship leading to a family, is enough to make his blood boil. He simply cannot entertain the idea that somebody holds ideas and convictions different than his: he must always be right and the other must always be wrong. And if and when they dare tell him that (as almost everyone here tried to), in his mind he is immediately labelled a "hater", which to him is a good thing because, as Mussolini once said, "many enemies, much honour".

That's, in a nutshell, his way of thinking. Now, you tell me if you deem this way of thinking fit for a healthy debate on a public forum, no matter how anonymous and controversial.

@yick, thanks for weighing in. I have no problem replying to @Contrarian Expatriate's stupid accusations and exposing him for the phoney he is. As I told @Winston several times, it's more the matter that almost every thread both CE and I contribute to ends up with CE writing one of his usual replies denigrating my "low-status" job and my alleged predilection for "underage hoes"...and the entire thing degenerates to a 2-way flame war.

If I could make it stop, I would Yet, CE is full of pride, toxic pride, and won't stop any time soon. It might go quiet for a few days, then his system feels in need for some bashing/gaslighting and the carousel starts again.

I have personally nothing left to say to CE. I know who he is (really), I know how much water his stories hold and I would be happy to leave him alone if he does the same to me.

I can't agree more, however you can all see how CE keeps creating ad-hoc threads and posts to provoke me.
