Technically it was men who allowed women to have the vote. This in turn led to no-fault divorce and the divorce revolution. Because women aren't men and can't be allowed to make important decisions (and now we know why).

What's sad is that younger American men really can't in good conscience get married in the U.S., unless they're really careful. Just last week, I learned that one of my older male mentors is getting a divorce. His wife, of course, filed for it. He was all for making the marriage work.

Everything a man needs from a woman can be obtained without marriage. Cooking and cleaning? You can do that better as a man. Sex and companionship? There is p4p, sluts, and short term relationships. Children and family? Having kids without getting married...

The problem is that you can't really have kids without getting married. Not if you want those kids to turn out well.

The male idea of having kids without marriage makes about as much sense as the female idea of strong, independent single moms.

No wonder civilization is falling apart. The people running it can't even figure out such simple things as why men don't like being used as resources and then discarded.

For middle class men who have daughters, nieces, a/o sisters, a great deal rides on not caring about this angle too much.
She gets knocked up (a couple times) without a legally bound wallet, she'll be looking to daddy, uncle, or big bro to help out.

Uh-huh. Now, imagine you have a carousel riding sister with one toddler and already knocked up again by a different dude.

"But why can't me and baby stay with you, big bro Ghost? You've got a whole house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
I promise we won't be any trouble. It'll just be until I get on my feet, OK?"

Sheeeeeiiitt. Smart dads know she'll eventually call home and the wife isn't going to turn daughter (and grandchild) away, so they need to make sure suitable beta wallets are on standby to nip the whole nonsense in the bud.
If fear/shaming gets some of the toothpaste back into the tube, so be it. You're a good responsible man, aren't ya, Ghost?

ETA: If she stays with you long enough and gets mail at your place, she gets tenancy rights.

Now you know why the marriage rates in America are at an all time low. Never in US history has the marriage rate been this low. No man in his right mind would get married in the United States with it's divorce laws that favor women nearly 100% of the time.

Just wait and see how even FURTHER LOWER the marriage rates get in the future. In 50 years, almost NOBODY will be getting married in the United States. Thanks feminism and no fault divorce for bring down society.

I think overall with the rise of feminism and western style thinking . Traditional sense of marriage is outdated. I think Asia is lagging behind but will be soon like USA.

People will just stay single or be just hop from one relationship to another. More single moms with Uncle Sam being the big daddy.

I don't know if it will hit Asia quite as hard. Asians by far tend to be collectivist in their thinking. Family is extremely important. Shacking up and having kids raised without fathers isn't good for the kids. Individualism allows for a higher degree of selfishness in people's thinking when it comes to not caring if your kids are raised without a daddy by a single mom, or by some other daddy.

This is an arbitrary problem, but yes. The man won't have any rights without marriage, but with marriage he won't have any power. This is a problem that could be solved with legislation backed by the will of men (i.e. giving men most of the reproductive rights instead of women, who naturally have too many reproductive rights) but isn't likely. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do about this part yet. Perhaps find a good mate, knock her up while saying I'll marry her, then let her know that I fully intend for us to be a family but without marriage. That's an uphill battle and could easily backfire, I admit.

Why don't you just plan on getting married in a country that has divorce courts that are less punitive to men? The American divorce courts really are among the worst. There are countries with better courts, as well as countries where they will never be able to get alimony/child support out of you. If you marry a woman in a country where she will get almost nothing in the event of a divorce, then she probably won't divorce you.

Marriage today is a way to be an old man like real fast in my book, not worth it at all.

I have not seen any married couples I envy, a man has too give up way to much today and that's even before the divorce.....

That's a possibility I suppose but the problem is that the marriage still wouldn't benefit me. By its very nature, marriage benefits women and children but can't benefit men, especially since now he can get what he needs without marriage. The problems with not getting married are arbitrary and could be fixed by legislating that men have virtually all the reproductive rights. A woman can still benefit from me without marriage, and we can still make kids and be parents without marriage. Come to think of it, I'm not so much against marriage as I am a government contract that supposedly legitimizes the relationship.

Yes, the marriage still might not benefit you. But ideally, if you have children, you will be worried about more than yourself and what benefits you. I was looking at the situation with the assumption that you would want what is best for your kids.
