doubt it. Japan was a wreck after world war 2 and look what the women did they built the country up as hardworkers and career minded. Same as koreans.

Another confirmation of the primate of Japan as an "advanced" society, the Petri dish of all future socio-economic trends. The hikikomori ("locked in their bedroom") phenomenon means Japanese are post-social. As much as third of teenagers and young people not being interested in engaging with the opposite sex (herbivores) and now this, shows that they are also post-sexual.

All in all, forty years old and younger Japanese have been living in the stoic resignation that their nation is on the verge of extinction and are only living for themselves, and for the present.

All symbols of love and what's sacred about it are hollowed out and only bear a shroud of meaning if they are lived in the now, and possibly over by the following Monday when the office routine will beckon again. A bridal dress, a bouquet, being pampered in a 5-star hotel and a professional photoshoot. Then 5 or 50 people will "like it" on Facebook or other social and the experience will quickly become a memory, a visual candy to taste a few years later (if ever) when loneliness and existential emptiness will come back to bite.

A sad state of affairs, at least judged by Western standards.

For attention whores that grow up in middle class, western style countries the wedding ceremony is more important than the guy they are actually marrying. A cardboard cut out groom is just as good as the real thing since a woman's first marriage is only to a "starter husband".

Chinese women can find a guy to marry them but they get weddings and Halloween confused.
