One man suggested going to the Philippines, hiring a maid and asking if she had any single friends. In Indonesia, marrying a made is considered marrying beneath your station if you are middle class. But what do us western folks care. If you married someone from the maid economic class, she might not have high education and that could make for some issues if connecting intellectually is super important. Honestly, just having someone caring and compassionate you can talk about normal every day stuff with is what you need after you get past the dating stage anyway. A poor village girl could be a very hard worker. But if they don't know about hygiene and sanitation, that could be an issue. But if she's humble, you can teach her. She'd also have to learn how to work a washing machine and a lot of other things.
It seems like Indonesians are less uncomfortable with being set up with someone than a lot of Americans, btw, especially if they reach a certain age. But usually they set people up to meet.
Many years ago when I was in Indonesia, Friendster was the popular Facebook equivalent that Indonesian young adults (the class who can use computers) were using. If it's still reasonably active and you were interested in Indonesian women, you could go on there looking for singles, I suppose. I haven't heard of a big online scam 'industry' from Indonesia like there is in the Philippines. I knew three women who met men online when I was in Indonesia. I'd suggested online dating to one attractive, young-looking 40-year-old who asked my wife how she found me. About a year later, I saw her and she said she was engaged. She'd met a man from Virginia, video chatted for a long, long time, and accepted a marriage proposal. She married him and they were doing well the last I heard. Soon after, another girl I knew from the same church married a man from Virginia she met online. We went to their wedding. She was probably in her 30's.
