Foxconn to Build Henan Plant
In a bid to shift the center of manufacturing operations from Shenzhen to Central and Northern China, Foxconn has announced that it plans to build a 300,000-employee plant in Henan Province
(Beijing) - Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer, revealed a plan to build a plant in Central China's Henan Province that would hire 300,000 employees.
According to a statement published by the Hebi city government in Henan Province, Foxconn is preparing to move its production capacities from Southern coastal cities to less-developed areas in Central and Northern China, in an aim to reduce costs.
The statement said that Foxconn will begin recruiting 100,000 employees to work in the new plant.
The new workers will have the same conditions as Foxconn's current employees in Shenzhen in terms of working hours and salary. Workers are required to work eight hours a day, five days a week, with overtime hours not exceeding three hours a day.
The basic salary for new workers has been set at no less than 1,200 yuan per month, and overall monthly income is expected to reach 1,600 yuan to 2,300 yuan.
Media reports have confirmed that Foxconn is planning to move most of its Shenzhen production capacities to Northern China's Tianjin, leaving around 100,000 workers in Shenzhen for the exclusive production of Apple products.
