Thai Women, Cross-Cultural Marriage and Sexuality

Post by pandabear »

Interesting article

http://www.ijssh.org/papers/87-CH014.pdf

written by a Thai woman.

It appears that just about anyone who would marry a Thai woman who was divorced, widowed, or who was a single mother would be doing her a big favor just by marrying her.

And, Englishmen tend to prefer women with at least a bit of sexual experience (compared to their Asian counterparts, who largely prefer virgins, or who might only consider marrying a virgin).

So, the markets clear, and everyone is happy.
...widows and divorcees in Thai society are looked down as used or unwanted objects. Marrying a Farang is not only a good opportunity for these Thai women to live in a society with higher living standard but also an opportunity for them to feel the value of their bodies...

I made it a point not to get involved with a widow or divorcee or a woman with children for this very reason. If a Thai woman has kids or is a divorcee, chances are she'll jump at the first (maybe second) opportunity that comes her way. Doesn't have that much to do with her wanting the man, it has more to do with her wanting security. It's sort of like a whore liking you because you're the one that came up when she spun the wheel of fortune. I know it's more difficult but it's much better to get a woman who can take care of herself, doesn't need you or your money, and who doesn't have kids.

If you browse through, for example, the ladies offered by Thai Personal Connections

http://www.thaipersonalconnectionltd.co ... cy/gallery

most of them seem to be widows, divorcees, and single moms. Eliminate these, plus the dogs, and you only have a handful left.

Scott: what's your opinion on the Thai marriage agencies? For a foreigner who doesn't have a whole lot of time to spend in the country?

Use them with caution. If the women are as good as they seem, waiting a year or two before getting serious won't matter.

To use them when living here is completely unnecessary.

Hold the Phone!

While I do advocate using your advantage as a Westerner to get the best women available ANYWHERE; there is something to be gained from mining divorcees and widows who the majority of the time have children. That is different than women who were sexually irresponsible.

Why would you consider this a bad idea?

If you're talking about getting laid, fine. But for a relationship...the woman better be a complete piece of ass and fantastic.

1. I wouldn't want to deal with their baggage - and they'll have baggage
2. Why do I want to take care of someone else's kids?

Many Thai women feel the same way. They want their own family, not someone else's.

If you look through the Thai Personal Connections (mentioned above), a lot of the better looking women are divorced or single moms. Perhaps it is the curse that accompanies being sexually attractive.

First, I'm married so I don't need to look for anyone. That said, if you are in Thailand, why would you use an internet dating service? IMO I think it's unnecessary and you're much better off sitting across from a woman as opposed to looking at her on Skype. If you can't spend the time here, okay, I can understand, but I would definitely proceed cautiously. Women with kids are women with more needs and most are willing to do whatever they have to do to get what they want/need.

So you're saying good looking women are cursed because of their beauty and this is why they get divorced? C'mon man, there are plenty of great looking single women who absolutely do not want to get divorced and who are willing to do whatever it takes to make their marriage work.

Well, no. I was just trying to say that the homely ones don't get as many guys interested in boning them, and are less likely to become single moms or married in the first place.

I was thinking about using one of the marriage agencies, where they have a large number of women, hopefully screened, who are looking for a foreign husband, rather than going with an internet dating site, and likely being scammed.
