I may get some hate for this but if you are a young, white, male who is "monolinguistic" you are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to professional jobs, especially government, no matter what your skill or degree level is. And the "jobs are fake" statement is so true. I work for a state agency and even if they plan on hiring within or already have the person they want to hire, they are still required to post the job announcement. Online sites like Indeed, Monster, USAjobs, etc are pretty much a waste of time unless you luck out. It really is all about who you know. 20 years ago wasn't nearly as bad as it is now for recent graduates/young professionals. Rising tuition rates don't help this either.MattHanson1990 wrote:Even when the economy was booming in the 90s? If jobs were hard to get before the recession, even during the economy boom of the 90s, it's likely that the current wave of man-hating feminism plagued both the job market and the dating scene at the same time, if not screwing up the job market before plaguing the dating scene. It seems like now it's taboo for a guy in America to try to find work as well as trying to get dates and flirting with women in public.
Why do ALL of my friends have jobs and I don't??

I seriously doubt McDonald's requires experience. My little brother just got a job there and he's 17 with work no experience; same with his friends. Job's as such have high turnover rates so there are always open positions. The biggest problem for minimum wage jobs nowadays is that they tend to cut benefits and hours. Few hire full time, with most allowing 32 hours/week tops yet they want you to have open availability making it difficult to have multiple jobs. Granted I think everyone should strive to do better than minimum wage but sometimes that's simply not the case.MattHanson1990 wrote:Even crappy minimum wage jobs anyone can do such as flipping burgers at McDonald's now require experience. The real reason jobs require experience these days is because baby boomers have been taking all the jobs, making it very difficult for millennials.hammanta wrote:That said, I would think vocational skills are more useful than having BA degrees and a lot of BS degrees as well. But articles like this should be honest.
Nowadays you need 2-3 years experience just to get an entry level job, in which most also require a degree. Without a degree, you have no chance.
So regarding the job market, America is paradise for baby boomers and hell for millennials.

I think part of it is women in the work force because of now copetition. For example in philippines a lot of guys are now unemployed cause so many women take their jobs. They are feminist there.MattHanson1990 wrote:Even when the economy was booming in the 90s? Back then, you didn't have to apply to jobs online although the Internet became mainstream. I think computer jobs were easy to get in the 90's but when i entered college in 2000 it was already over with before i even had the chance so i just created my own "career" online after i graduated.

No matter what kind of job I have or do I have to be a producer, you will never catch me doing work that serves no purpose like a lot of government jobs no matter how much they pay.

You gotta be f*in kidding me. i wanted to take this with humor but I'm appalled when I see these late stages of social decay.Ghost wrote:I found a way to make money. For $80 an hour, or up to $400 for an overnight gig, the 33-year-old mother of three dons flannel pajama bottoms, puts away her family pictures and two pit bull mix dogs and invites clients into her bedroom in Highland, N.Y., to snuggle. Once the spooning begins, she insists that it stay strictly platonic.
Like mattycouric said, time to abandon ship!

I would specifically add government contractors to that myself. But that's harder to escape everyday.
