I used to live in the desert area of california and there is 30 percent plus unemployment there. becoming the next detroit of usa. High taxes High gas, gas is 75 cents cheaper in arizona and the living cost are 200 a month in mobile rv parks. California will probobly be bankrupt if the solar projects dont dont pull them through but with industry leaving that state is in a lot of trouble. The state has been focused on lakers basketball for years while the economy went in the trash and insudtry is leaving while the ranks of the unemployed and welfare reciepients grows n leaps and bounds.

Though I share the same sentiments in regards to Californian as OTB, you pretty much summed up why I left California.

Move to California or Florida, but even that will get boring after 2 years.

I actually did with my best buddy back in August of 2002. We were living in the desert of Lancaster Antelope Valley. We moved out there to get away from this place, we loved the vibe, the versatile terrain of California and also to go to school. We wanted to get our residency then start school in September of 2003. However, things didn't work out the way we expected so we moved back. Now Florida, I like south Florida and the upside of being there is that it's close to Latin America. But I prefer California. California resonates with my personality. I always said if I decide to stay in the US, which is very unlikely, California will be my next home provided I have a decent paying job to survive there. I'm just done with the country.

I never understood why people live in the craphole they call New Jersey or as New Yorkers like to refer to it--the Garbage State. Granted, New York isn't all that better, but at least you have some semblance of culture and excitement here. The truth is, any place in the States is the same: the same boring suburban neighborhoods, the same strip malls and the same brand name stores, the same Walmart's and McDonald's, the same bitchy females and unhappy men, the same attitudes and patriotic garbage that makes me want to puke. You'll have to leave the country to experience life in a whole new way.

Yes this is very true. Even though New Jersey is considered one of the wealthiest states in the US it's a ghetto state, in my opinion, with the exception of a few affluent cities that make it one of the wealthiest states. The people in this state make me reclusive. Walmarts, malls, and restaurants just irritate me. Going out anymore is just depressing. You find the same type of people; sloppy looking women, slutty looking women, ghetto and attention seeking men and women. In the suburbs you find more refined, educated people but the majority like I said carry themselves in a very low class manner. I'm SICK OF IT!!!

I agree. This is why I want out. California is the exception as I stated because it feels very versatile with cosmopolitan cities and it just feels foreign. But the social disconnectedness gives it that same American vibe that makes it no different than NY, Chicago, or Philadelphia. Yeah people are more laid back but meeting women is still a "task." It's an awesome place but I'm looking for culture, social connectedness, and friendly opened women.

As I have mentioned before, a man's best shot of having a decent life, if you are stuck in the US, is to get a job in San Diego and live in Tijuana. You can cross the border relatively quickly with a Sentri Pass. That way you are out of the US, but still working there. Tijuana is a large city with plenty of culture and things to do and nightclubs to meet women. And I guarantee that it won't feel like New Jersey.

That's good advice. I hear Tijuana is not so safe. But that's from what I've heard. I would need to check it out myself. Thanks for the advice.

I just saw a piece on Fox news with the headlines "American go to Mexico for cheap gas despite drug war". The piece was a total slam on Mexico full of lies and deception. For one, there hasn't been any drug violence in Tijuana for over a year. Then they interviewed some Mexican guy who said there is no way he would go to Mexico to save money on gas. More bullshit. Thousands of Americans go to Mexico every day. San Ysidro is the busiest border in the world. Then the Fox reporter goes on to say that you don't know what the quality of the gas is, that it might be watered down. This is complete bullshit. I have been buying gas in Mexico, and my car runs great. I have talked to people who have been buying Mexican gas for over 10 years and they have had no problems. Then the reporter says that if you buy Mexican gas, it might violate the warranty on your car. More total B.S. So why has the US media targeted Mexico? Could it be that the corporations who control the media don't want you to save $1.50 a gallon by going to Mexico? I mean really. You have to stop believing the lies of the US media else you will never be free. I live in Mexico and the only time I get nervous about my security is when I go to the United States.

I agree with this. I go to Tijuana occasionally since my dentist is there and it seems fine.

Another option is to live anywhere close to the border and then at least you can visit Mexico to socialize. San Diego works, as does El Paso and South Texas.

EXACTLY NorthAmericanguy! You summed it up well with that statement. It's makes going out very depressing. You feel isolated. Look, we are human beings. Men love women and women love men. Meeting people of the opposite sex should come with ease. But in this country a man is a potential threat which makes women subconsciously put up walls. Some women are very easy to talk to, friendly and open to meeting a guy but with most you have to cut through a wall of ice before you two begin to have a normal and natural interaction.

I hate seeing two girls touching and grinding on each other at a bar. I can remember a time when girls only danced with guys. Whenever I see some girls grinding on each other thinking they're hot, I turn around and walk away with a disgusted look on my face! If all you guys would turn around and walk away when these lesbo scared fools do this, they would eventually stop doing it. Most of them do this to get guy's attention. Unfortunately guys are pussies and think this approval behavior will get them somewhere with these girls. My suggestion is just walk away. If nobody is watching them, they'll have to go back to grinding on guys or kissing guys for attention!

Why Making 100k Per Year Is Stupid

I experienced something strange last night. I went into the city centre, and the "ice barriers" that usually exist between people were completely gone. When I got on the bus, everyone was interacting between eachother like there were no groups and you couldn't tell which people actually knew eachother, even though many people got off at different stops; just like how it's meant to be in certain less developed countries. On this one day of the year, it's as if the social barriers just collapsed. Women were even making eye-contact with me in the street and I was able to talk to some of them. This is very unusual for here, usually the atmosphere is similar to New York; no sense of connectedness between people. There are some factors that would add to this; more people were out than usual, people were more intoxicated than usual and there was a higher ratio of Irish people to foreigners, but this is still not enough to signal such a huge change.

Since the St.Patrick's day celebrations are had in various cities in the US, I wonder did this phenomenon also occur where any of you are? Or does it occur on any other particular day of celebration in the year? From my experience of New York I couldn't picture it in a million years.

I think the phenomena you experieneced was due to the fact that people were out and about because of the St. Patrick's day festivities (and maybe some people were a little intoxicated). You probably won't experience something like that again until next St. Patrick's day!

In the city I live in, people have their "ice barriers" up all the time, there is no sense of connection between people. The women walk past you like you don't exist, they don't even make eye contact with you.

Where I live, a lot people don't even know who their neighbors are, it's really sad. Trying to make friends is like trying to trying to climb Mt. Everest. Meeting women is like trying to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphs.

I think things are different in small towns. At least in small towns, there is a sense of community and people do talk to their neighbors and the women are at least somewhat friendly.

I know a Mexican guy in Tijuana who had all his money and ID's robbed by African-American gangs at gunpoint up in the San Francisco Bay area. This had never happened to him in Mexico. He would be in constant fear of unruly street gangs while he worked in the U.S., but not in Mexico. He feels much safer in Tijuana than in run-down areas of Californian cities. He said that for one thing, neighbors know each other well in Mexico, and most of the violence is among drug cartel fighting amongst themselves. But in America, the violence would be from brutal street gangs that actively target ordinary folks, and there would be no neighbors to rely on, since they don't even know each other. Yes of course there are street gangs in Mexican neighborhoods too, but except for the ones with American origins, they are nowhere as bad as gangs in L.A.

And thats the exact same way they think of children, that children are harmless defenseless, fragile creatures and that's why they shouldn't be disciplined, because discipline is the same thing as child abuse in their own two eyes, and that's why today these little bastards have no f***ing sense whatsoever. Ok like the club scene example you gave, you always always see guys groveling over women in the club, as if they themselves are not that important. And thats the problem with this country, they don't know the meaning of the word "balance" (either they give too much or too little). And its not as if giving American women all these free privileges has decreased physical abuse by men, oh but guess what, women physically abuse men too, so why shouldn't that be taken just as seriously as physical abuse by men. A woman doesn't have to be stronger than a man to abuse him or even kill him for that matter.

One other post I would like to submit that adds to why this country is depressing is the fact that this country is nauseatingly family oriented and child centric, all while ignoring single people and vilifying adult activities.


Personally, I feel that every city should have a "red zone" where not only anything goes, but where all the single, child free people could live together for cheap AWAY from all the people who have families.

I mean really, I hate that everywhere I go, in one way or another, I'm always around loud stinky kids, pregnant women, boring soccer moms, old rundown depressed looking dads, and in general, "family friendly environments" where you have to be politically correct all the time.

We all know the US is a circus and the land of clones and robots. This is what makes this country so depressing. This is why I don't care about going out. I go grocery shopping and occasionally go to my buddies house and my mom's. Other than that I'm home. I'm immediately stricken with a wave of depression when I go out. New Jersey is a depressing state. I just hate even going anywhere. I'm surrounded by fake, robotic people who follow what they see. They are so predictable in so many ways. It seems like everyone is a robot and the scary part is that they're not even aware that they are sheep. I'm just sick of this place.

It's not really America that is the problem. It's actually YOU. You don't want to go out because you have no one to go out with. You have no friends and no girlfriend and thus you always feel down due to being lonely, sad, and depressed, which results in you not wanting to go out. The change of scenery is not going to cure that. You can go anywhere in the world - Philippines, Russia, Poland, Africa, Mexico, Dubai, or Italy - anywhere you want. But if you are totally and completely alone and you have no one around you then you will feel the same loneliness, emptiness, inadequacy, feeling of being lost and out of place no matter where in the world you are. Humans are social creatures. We always need company to feel right.

Just look at Japan. It's a country with some of the highest population density in the world, friendly people, beautiful architecture, great scenery, and a vibrant social life. Plenty of places to visit and places to go. Lots of entertainment options and it's very safe. And yet they still have a country wide loneliness epidemic which gave birth to an entire class of hopeless shut-ins called Hikikomori - highly reclusive people who don't leave their house for years. Do you know why they never leave the house? Because they're lonely and that loneliness have gradually turned into sociophobia, effectively rendering them psychologically disabled and mentally ill. These pathetic outcast people have never developed much needed social skills to be the functioning members of society and thus they have opted to not be a part of it. Sad.
