Her problem, her risk and so what? Interesting however to read that a 'black sperm donor' even exists.
Her daughter is not black, but of mixed race. If this is such a big problem in her neighborhood, she should consider relocation.

Any birth is a risk, some children are with down-syndrome, others are otherwise handicapped, she should be happy that the child was born perfectly healthy. many mixed race children are turning out to be nice looking, often really beautiful.

A woman who is married to an infertile black man would probably ask for a black donor, therefore she would still biological children of her own, plus they would resemble her husband so people would not suspect anything. If they would adopt a random black orphan, the child would not be hers biologically. The whole experience of giving birth means a lot to a woman, it's the ultimate completion of her womanhood. A fertile woman with a sterile husband would be allowed to still fulfill her dreams of biological motherhood. It would also avoid awkward situations where the child would be curious about their "real" parents, which in case of sperm or egg donation will be the intended parents from day one. So I can definitely see the advantages.

What I don't see mentioned in the article, is what happened to the white donor they planned on using? Usually in case of a mix up, that means there is now a black couple that ended up with a half-white child too?

As far as I understand the article, his sperm is still with the sperm bank and was never used.
Somebody took no. 380 instead no. 330 out of the freezer.

About your argument of a black sperm donor, I think even if not biologically related, such a couple could look for a child who is similar to them, Africa and wide parts of America are full with such children and nobody really wants them.

I was however not really thinking about such a case of a married couple who cannot get children out of whatever reason, as this article is about a lesbian couple. This makes it clear that she was either using a sperm donor or had sex outside her marriage.
