Red Dead Redemption - Best Western Game Ever!
Red Dead Redemption - Best Western Game Ever!
Have any of you played Red Dead Redemption? It was made by Rockstar, maker of the infamous Grand Theft Auto games, and is supposed to be the best and most realistic Western game ever. I've been looking for a great Western game for a long time, since I'm a big fan of Westerns and Old West history. Too bad it's not available for PC. I think you need an XBox or PlayStation to play it. The scenery in it is breathtaking and surreal too.
Here is a great review of it on YouTube, where you can preview the graphics and gameplay:
Looks pretty awesome huh? Here is a movie made from clips of the game:

On Gamespot, it has a 9.5 rating. Wow that's very high. Here is the review of it on Gamespot:

Check out this gameplay from Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. This one has zombies in it. I'm not sure if it's a separate game from the above or part of the same game. But it looks amusing.

I never played, but Fallout New Vegas is a fantastic Western themed game. Fallout is basically set in a hypothetical world of like, what if society/culture continued like it did in the 1950s. So there's no rock music, only stuff like Frank Sinatra and whatnot on the radio. The setting is in 2077 WWIII starts between USA and China, and we both nuke eachother. In the various games, you usually come out of a sealed underground vault a hundred or two hundred years later. New Vegas takes place in 2281 in Las Vegas. There's a few ruling factions, and you decide which one you want ruling New Vegas. It's a cool cool game.
The game allows you really to do whatever you want. You can even get through the game without killing anything if you play it right, or you can kill everyone around you except children.

What's the difference between XBox and PlayStation 3? Which is better and why?

PS3 technically speaking is better. It's got more processing power than Xbox does. But in real life they both basically play the same. It just depends on what consoles have the games you want. Xbox got more popular in America, PS3 more popular in Asia. Xbox for it's Xbox live service of online game play/other services charges money, whereas Playstation's online network is free but worse quality (had it's user info hacked a while back.) So basically, buy the system you like the other games most on.Winston wrote:What's the difference between XBox and PlayStation 3? Which is better and why?
Here is a longer and even better video review from Gamespot.
Here is a two hour movie made from cut scenes from the game.
Red Dead Redemption: The Movie - Part I "The American West"
Here's a review from a hot sexy blonde. lol. It's hard to pay attention to what she's saying because you keep staring at her boobs. lol
Why would a hot blonde with a sexy body be into video games?

Ok thanks. So does PS3 and Xbox take cartridges or discs? Are the games the same for both systems? I mean, does every title one has also exist for the other? Do the games cost the same for both systems?onethousandknives wrote:PS3 technically speaking is better. It's got more processing power than Xbox does. Can you download games for them or copy them? Or do you have to buy them?

Well one advantage PS3 has it's a Bluray disc player, whereas Xbox decided to use HD-DVD, which went bust. So Xbox can play DVDs and the (now defunct) HD-DVDs, but PS3 plays Bluray. So all use discs, only the Nintendo DS handheld uses cartridges nowadays. So if you don't already own a Bluray player, then maybe PS3 is better if you wanna get one. Games aren't the same for both systems, but all the "big" titles usually come out for both PS3 and Xbox. One huge difference I think is more Japanese games come out for PS3, and more American games come out for Xbox. There's some differences. Like Microsoft isn't gonna make Forza (racing game) for PS3, and Sony won't make Gran Turismo for Xbox. So there's some exclusives, but it's mostly games that are affiliated with the manufacturers of the console.
Cost, yeah, is about the same for games. Locally since you're in TW, PS3 could be cheaper than Xbox. Not sure. Here Xbox is more popular, but overall most things cost the same. They do have downloadable games on both systems, and also downloadable expansion packs to add more stuff to games (like Fallout has expansion packs to add easily another 50+ hours gameplay to the game.) The downloads cost money usually.
Can you illegally download or copy games? Yes, but it's not as easy anymore. You gotta hack the whole system, and generally once the system is hacked you can't play online with others. Sony in particular is being so bad that they're talking of not allowing people to buy used games for their next generation systems. On a used game, the licensing fee Sony gets only gets paid once. Both the manufacturers are really hurting due to the "new economy" so they're trying all they can to get profits, first with eliminating piracy, now with trying to stop used game sales. On my Xbox there's some games the system won't allow me to play unless I get an update, which I can't do as I don't have ethernet lines running to my room or a wifi adaptor. So instead of letting me play unupdated, it just won't let me play the games. The consoles are getting a lot more...authoritarian? now. Fun stuff.
Thanks. I wasn't planning on getting one for me. It would be for my son. I guess since Playstation is more popular and common in Asia, then that would be the better choice.onethousandknives wrote: Hi, sorry for late reply.

So you can't get used games? That sucks. What about all the Playstation games on Ebay? Do they include the code you need to play it?
