Normally a government shutdown is not a big deal but when you pile on a mountain of debt, a debt ceiling and a stock market that's at a 12 year high it becomes an issue. Just a reminder, when the stock markets are at record highs it means that money is being taken out of the economy, it is not a good sign.

How much longer the government can keep this circus going I have no idea. They are spending 85 billion a month to keep the US economy going with no way of paying it back. As I have said before, the Canadian Dollar, the Euro and the Swiss Franc are part of the US Dollar Index and when the US Dollar does crash its taking the rest of the world currencies with it. A price drop below 79 cents(long term support) would signal a major breakdown.

Taco you do understand this is a counterfeiting con game don't you? all the fake money is pledge to be paid back + interest by our signatures. When you break down all the worlds central banks you are going to find the same people own controlling stocks in them all except maybe Russia. They set the game table up for the con, the perto $ is what has kept Americas game going, they will be imploding America shortly and are already, just look around you.

Your right. The BRIC nations are no longer buying oil in US dollars and the USD just broke through support today.

Ditto on getting a passport. I took the plunge, spent a good part of my paycheck and got mine back in July. Glad I did, so I can get the f**k out of this cesspool. The U.S. house of cards is slowly collapsing.

Yeah, a total waste of tax dollars. They only gave us everything from long distance telecommunication to GPS satellites to microwaves to LVADs and dialysis machines. There are a million things that are wastes of money in government, but NASA is not one of them. Without them, any loved one you know that has been on the wait for a kidney transplant would be dead, anyone with advanced heart failure would be dead, and the very laptop I am typing on right now would not exist. They developed the CT scanner to test for flaws in rocket parts, a completely bullshit device that I could never see any use for whatsoever. They are a complete waste of 0.8% of the federal budget. We could be spending that 17.8 billions dollars to supplement America's 535 billion dollar a year gambling habit, 300 billion dollar a year alcohol budget, or our 94 billion dollar a year tobacco habits. The nearly 1,500 inventions that range from athletic footwear to water filtration systems to cordless power tools are complete crap and have not contributed to our economy at all in any way.

Here's some of the useless shit NASA has come up with because we needed it for space travel and other things:

That rant aside, all of the Americans on this forum are completely f***ed if the government goes into default. The value of the dollar will implode, interest rates and inflation will skyrocket, and the global financial system will have a crisis that makes 2008 look like a boom year. The Tea Party would rather see the world burn to the ground than allow Obamacare to become a reality, and we're all going to pay for their ideology. A passport isn't going to do any of us much good if our dollars are worth as much as the PHP.

My dad was a groundbreaking applied mathematician who studied under Richard Feynman, heard a classified lecture from Werner von Braun, and pioneered electronic warfare. He worked for US Navy and CIA. I was privileged to work with him briefly on one of his NASA contracts.

One common denominator shared by my father and all the scientists he collaborated with from literally around the world, is that he insisted on TRUTH, and had no tolerance for compromise.

So, on his behalf, and theirs, let me be clear: scientific research is not the creation of lying bureaucrats.

NASA was once a noble effort to put Americans into space, yes, and once the source of numerous innovations. Since the 1970's, NASA has degenerated into a pointless exercise (and often a cover for nefarious DoD projects).

They are the prisoner of their own lies. Having lied about the moon landing, manned space exploration is now a thicket, a minefield, a quagmire. Everyone is afraid to say what it would REALLY take to go to the Moon - perhaps an Arthur C Clarke-style space station with artificial gravity, a built-n-space moon shuttle, thick lead shielding, a pre-fab radiation-proof and climate-controlled moonbase, and so on.

(They recently mumbled something about why a manned Mars landing would be tough. Radiation etc. Blah blah. Same as the Moon, but they didn't mention THAT, did they now?)

The truth is out. It isn't a secret anymore. Those who work there should resign, and get an honest job.

But no. NASA putters on, unable and unwilling to admit the truth.

Some scientists.

I don't want them. I don't need them. I don't want to pay them.

And if they are collaborating in the monstrosity called HAARP, I will hang them.

Good pic.

This is exactly the scenario desired by the right-wing of the NWO, the self-described Neo-Cons, the folks that Colin Powell called "the crazies".

Nuclear war, where they alone survive... but they WIN, dammit!

Taco I am too lazy to comprehend charts. Can you give me an idea what the 79 cent level represents? Is that simply what traders call a "support level"?

....The most conservative estimate on NASA's contribution to the economy is that for every dollar we spend, 2 to 3 dollars of private economic activity is created by the transfer of their technology to private industry. You would basically be cutting off your nose to spite your face if you defunded them. You would cost the economy 100-200% of what you would save and eliminate one of only two decent research departments in our government. Then again, I'm aware you are in the camp of you would rather watch the world burn than compromise at all ever. Plus you think we're all doomed anyways. It kind of makes your opinion on anything that would benefit the future of humanity sort of moot.
Who are those research dollars flowing to? Illuminati-controlled companies? Contractors building drones and "classified" energy weapons?

Yeah keep funding elitist NWO defense contractors while all non-defense manufacturing is moved to China by deliberate policy?

Yeah right. Just WHOSE private industry are we talking about?

Not my nose. Not my face.

Theirs.

They JUST STOPPED! That's the POINT!

Sure they will probably start up again but the big picture is they have classified it as NON-ESSENTIAL meaning they can once again freeze it ANYTIME.

But +1 for getting yours...
