This guy came over from China and tried to have sex with a 15 year old girl.
He was charged with:
Indecent behavior with a juvenile
Computer-aided solicitation of a minor
He is currently an inmate at Livingston Parish Detention Center. He currently has an ICE hold.
More than likely after he's done his time he'll be deported back to China

Re: To Catch A Predator
I remember in the early days of the internet I was in a chat room and someone got me into a private room and said "I am 13". Of course I knew it was a dirty cop and the conversation didn't go any further. These guys are so stupid

The first perp is a former cop. He wanted a 15 year old girl to urinate on him. He called it "water sports"

Re: To Catch A Predator
This subject matter begs the greater question, Why are age of consent laws different in each state? Why aren't they uniform across the United States? Is it illegal to cross state lines to have sex with someone who is say 16 where it's legal?
Why is it illegal for someone to meet someone online who is under 18, though it's legal to meet them in person say at the shopping mall where she could be 17.
What about those Romeo and Juliette laws?

The reason is because under the US constitution the rights not enumerated in the Constitution are retained by the states and by the people. Historically laws that govern sexual behavior are generally governed by the states. This also goes for other laws like murder. Traffic laws are also governed by the states but since it is important to have uniformity in this area there are organizations that will try to push the states into adopting the same traffic oz and other types of laws.
States have passed a number of sex-related laws going back to the 1800 soon may be further back. So in some states the laws that were passed could put you in jail for 20 years for a fornication or adultery masturbation for hire or other things like that. In 1986 the Supreme Court upheld a Georgia law against homosexual behavior. But in recent decades courts have decided such laws were invalid.
The sex with minor laws haven't been overturned in the same way.
Now while I appreciate the idea of having something set up to arrest child molesters and maybe give them a criminal record so we know who they are and to discriminate against them so that they can't live in the subdivision with the kids, I don't see how this show has my legal basis or how the laws they are using should be considered valid in our system. Took a law class in high school and it sure sounds like this show uses entrapment where the police is actually enticing people to commit a crime and then arrest him for it. They are supposed to be able to get away with that.
Also this Chinaman's argument that everyone on the app is 18 or over and he was going to check and make sure that seems pretty solid to me as far as the law is concerned. Doesn't seem right for them to try to convict people based on their intentions rather than their actions at least in our legal system. Since they couldn't prove whether he was going to bed the girl to see if she was 18 or not then why should they be able to convict him? And we know that he was charged but not convicted.
But I don't have a problem with reinstating the old fornication laws. Some sex laws were too intrusive like regulating what activities married couple state and things like that. But as far as having laws like laws against adultery homosexual activity or fornication goes I am not opposed to that. I do think 20 years for fornication is too harsh. I do not find death for adultery or homosexual activity or bestiality to be too harsh if Thre a're witnesses which is actually rather gross.
I also do not think it should be illegal for a man to have sex with an older teenage girl if he was married to her, But that is how it is within a lot of states if you aren't going across boarders or something like that. It's not something that appeals to me personally but of course if someone is 18 and he's dating a 16-year-old that seems pretty normal. If her dad agrees and he marries her and he can support her I don't see a problem.
Progressives tend to like to make rules to control other people's behavior and they also tend to have their own morals that are just made up based on their own opinions or social trends. One of those new made up morals is the idea that it older guy shouldn't be with the younger adult woman. And they get indignant happy idea of men fornicating with a girl in her 20s if he's in his 30s or 40 or 50s or whatever. But they don't care about the 17-year-old having sex with the 16-year-old. Even though the 17-year-old can get the girl dressed as pregnant as the grown man can but cannot support the baby.
I made this message with speech to text so what if it says something really strange or off the wall please keep that in mind.
