Saudi Arabia Is Severing Ties With Iran

Post by Taco »

Saudi Arabia will cut all diplomatic ties with Iran after executing a prominent Shiite cleric. They want us to believe this has nothing to do with low oil prices.

This actually doesn't have to do with low oil prices- SA and Iran are currently engaged in a proxy holy war in Syria.

Hey Taco, this doesn't surprise me one bit!!! The truth of the matter is, ever since the Iranian Revolution and the Fall of the Shah back in 1979, the Saudi and the other Arab Gulf states have feared that it would spread to their countries and threaten their power. These two Islamic (Saudi Arabia/Sunni vs. Iran/Shia) and petro rivals have been at each others throats for quite sometime now. Especially, after the "Arab Spring" or uprising back in 2011 when Saudi Arabia invaded Bahrain in order to quell down the majority Shia-Moslem dissent (to support the Sunni royals that run the country). Not to mention that even a few years earlier when U.S. forces were fighting in Iraq, 40% of the foreign enemy fighters were SAUDIS who were trying to support the minority Sunni population vs. the Shiite majority (about 60-80%) in the country from falling into Iranian influence.

In addition, let's not forget that it was Saudi Arabia, along with the other Persian Gulf states of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and the United States that funded and armed SADDAM HUSSEIN in a proxy war against Iran beginning on September 22, 1980 (1980-1988). Only to turn against Saddam when he invaded Kuwait back in August 2, 1990.

Now the recent nuclear deal between Iran and the Obama administration has made the Saudis (along with the Israelis) very nervous. Then Taco you also have the two proxy wars of Yemen and Syria. Where the Iranian Shia militias are fighting the Saudi-backed Sunni rebels (ISIS/ISIL) who wish to overthrow the Syrian President (and Iranian ally) Bashar al-Assad. Then the Saudis are making air strikes (with American and British made F-15s, AH-64 Apache helicopters, Eurofighter Typhoons, Tornados, etc.) against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
