Appreciate the encouraging overview, as I am 2 weeks away now from making the move.
If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you now and how old were you when you left Europe? Did you ever marry or settle into an LTR in Japan or elsewhere?

To answer your question, I was 20 when I left Europe for the first time, ending up in Malaysia among Chinese people, but this did not work out as expected. Later on moved to Japan, now married with a Japanese woman since 45 years, and with 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters and also with a Filipina fosterdaughter, wife and I we are 70, daughters 43 and 40, granddaughters 2 and 5, Filipina fosterdaughter living in Cebu is 27.

After my retirement we moved out of Tokyo to a less busy city, living now a bit outside of central Okayama/Kurashiki between Osaka/Kobe and Hiroshima, not so crowded, but still about 1.2 million people are here.

I never came back to Europe after moving to Japan, but I visit frequently a few Asian countries and I have a second home for holidays/retirement in Thailand.

My father died 101 years old, the grandfather was 89, two aunts (oldest sister of my father was 98 and the other one was 96).
They were never really sick up to their death.
I hope same with me.

Next week I will be gone to Thailand, it's getting cold in Japan, and after in January it's for Philippines.
Flights already booked and confirmed.

I should also mention, that our family life in Japan is really good. Nice condominium with view to forests and a river, and Japan is a safe place with very few crimes - you can go out day and night, no problem at all, we have also full health insurance for everybody, including dentist and almost no waiting time when you need any medical treatment, very good public transport, friendly people everywhere and we have also 2 cars and motorcycle, and I receive a good retirement allowance from Europe.

I am really happy, very satisfied with my present situation. Not really rich, but also far away from being poor.

If I compare this with my former life in Europe, what a difference. I never regretted to move away to Asia.

You'll never hear about someone getting on a train in Japan and shooting it up but stuff like that happens here all the time. Hell Korea only had one major serial Killer case, the rain coat killer. These countries are safe because they aren't whoring out their country to everyone who wants to move there. The Japanese aren't violent people, and they have no intent on harming each other.
America intentionally lets people flood into the country because the more issues they can create the more money they can make off of keeping people scared and terrified of living in their own neighborhoods. It's also why they want to disarm the people so bad while the assholes will obtain them illegally and will be the only ones armed as well as law enforcement. Everyone else will be vulnerable to threats. Japan also doesn't have neighborhoods or places like Chicago and Detroit where you got Japanese on Japanese crime happening every damn day, little kids dying in the street because some thug killed them with a stray bullet. Even the poor parts of Japan is safer than the ones in America and Europe. Some parts of Asia are safer than others, but I read an article that even Filipino people are obsessed with owning firearms, and they still have terrorism in certain parts of that country too where Japan has no terrorism at all.

Well that is true... Anybody with a certain look to them, tattoos up and down their body, hanging out in a group in sketchy looking surroundings can be intimidating. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Californian Asians commit more crimes then Asians anywhere else in the world do cause street gangs in countries like Japan, South Korea, and China are basically unheard of. Man you would be surprised, I found a list that said African gangs were unheard of, and I saw the photos of these gangs and it was like African gangs don't get any coverage compared to the ones in America. It's like people never even heard of the ones in Africa before, but they do exist because i seen the pics of them. But as for Japan no I doubt they have street gangs at all or South Korea. I could care less where the f**k you lived at. If there are other people that traveled to certain countries and had bad experiences that doesn't mean you not experiencing it makes it less bad. I recall seeing footage of a guy who got attacked by damn ladyboy with her high heel shoes all because he wouldn't talk to her, and she attacked his gf too. Kidnappings definitely happen in the Philippines and I don't have to live there to know this when travel guides mention this shit all the time and some of the images I've seen of expats who found themselves kidnapped, documentaries and interviews of people that survived such horrors.

Asians don't kill? LOL you obviously never read a single horror story about attacks that happen in Thailand and I've read LOTS of horror expat stories about people getting attacked, robbed, and even stabbed out there.

@WanderingProtagonist Have you ever been to Asia? I lived in Asia from 2017 - 2022. I spent the majority of my time in Thailand and Vietnam. I also visited Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, and Bali.

The majority of Thailand is a peaceful, safe, and happy place. There's a reason it's called the LOS. Don't talk shit about a country based on something you read.
