Diane Chambers from Cheers - Funny, Lovable, Charming, Feminine, Feminist

Post by Winston »

Wow check out these funny clips of Diane Chambers from Cheers, a popular sitcom from the 80s. She was so charming and lovable and adorable and funny even though she was a feminist. She was still feminine and cute and endearing even though she had feminist ideology. Why can't American women be like that today? The feminism in the 80s wasn't mean and nasty and hateful like today. It was more playful and lighthearted and humorous. Why can't it be like that today? I also resonate with her character since she was dreamy and impractical like me.

Oh believe me, there were plenty of harridans, battle axes and bad-ass dykes among the feminists back then too, and most were pretty dour. Diane was a character in a comedy ensemble and meant to be a foil to Sam's womanizer. She had to be attractive, heterosexual and ultimately susceptible to his charms.

Yes many of those types are attracted to law school for the power.
