Following the loss of their son, a retired sheriff and his wife leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas.
Good film. I am sure it is based in reality somewhere.

Is there someplace in the world where we're permitted to watch movies in theaters?
If the sarcasm isn't obviously dripping off this question please pencil it in.

I saw that movie. Kind of weird. No reason for the conflict. That family was an asshole for no reason and no motive. Felt contrived. Not realistic at all. Also it makes men look bad because they are always shown abusing and slapping women in the movies. In this case it was not even realistic because if a man was gonna hit his wife and stepson, he would do it at home in privacy, not in the parking lot of a supermarket. Come on. No one does that. Too contrived. Also the good couple didn't even explain more to the sheriff or try to get the law involved. The whole story was cliched and predictable.
Btw, what the heck happened to Kevin Costner's voice? It doesn't sound eloquent like it used to. And why did their son die at the beginning? That was never explained. He just fell off a horse and died immediately like that? Too contrived. They should give more plausible explanations.
