Odd Couple movie and tv show

When I learned that Jack Klugman had died, my mind raced back to my childhood and the TV show, The Odd Couple. Anyone else a fan of the show? It's about two divorced bachelors living in NYC:

I always thought that show had a homosexual subtext at a time when it had to be under the surface. The name itself suggests that.

However, the most poignant thing about the clip is the narration that says their wives "threw them out" indicating the power back then of a female to ruin the lives of men.
