A 2012 Spanish study found that LED radiation can cause irreversible damage to the retina.
A 2019 report from the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) warned of the “phototoxic effects” of blue light exposure, including an increased risk for age-related macular degeneration. The report also noted that blue light blocking glasses and filters may not protect against these and other harmful effects.

Wear blue light blocking glasses if you are concerned. You can get a pair for about thirteen bucks on Amazon, I use them regularly. I will say thay this is one theory that will probably hold weight- blue light exposure can likely cause macular degeneration and cataracts. Easy enough to filter out though.

About which situation are you referring to? Looking at a computer screen or TV - or LED lights at home - street lights or LED light coming from cars - or sunlight? Also LED lights are not all the same, some are strongly white, others more soft, into a bit into yellow. Any difference?

I am a little astigmatic/shortsighted and using eye glasses while outdoors/driving, which will change the color when exposed to UV light during bright day/sunny weather.

But in the room, looking TV or at a computer screen etc. I do not use any eye glasses. All lights in all rooms in my home are now LEDs.

Any follow-up comment from you would be interesting, thank you.

All blue light from any source will cause this effect. Photons don't care about their source, only their wavelength. LEDs are particularly bad because they output large amounts of blue photons at night.

For several years, light-emitting diodes have been present in our lamps, smartphones, televisions.

Use your phone as dim as possible, as infrequently as possible, and with a blue light filter on. Phone use disrupts your circadian rhythm, period, and there is weak evidence for cataract development and equivocal evidence for macular degeneration due to high energy LEDs. It isn't specifically LEDs that causes this, but any photon source that creates high energy spectrum light. 3 microwatts is usually the minimum exposure to cause damage, but most devices used in the home fall below 1 microwatt. Sunlight is actually the biggest risk to your eyes, with UVA and atmospheric blue light both known causes of macular degeneration and cataracts
