Commenting on the article, potassium iodide does not "treat" radiation poisoning. It's a thyroid blocker that is most effective when taken PRIOR to exposure. The effectiveness when taken post-exposure is questionable. If you read that taking it within 3-4 hours of exposure is effective, that's an optimistic scenario.
