Yes, I think you should stop. Think about it this way how many performance athletes are vegetarians? There are a few but they are way in the minority and most of them aren't on top of the competition. Look at MMA fighters a lot of them have perfect and functional physiques and you won't find many vegans amongst them.
- Ever since I became a vegetarian in 1990, I've gained weight and lost muscle mass. I used to be stronger and believe it or not, was able to beat most guys my age in arm wrestling (when I was a teen). It may be that due to lack of protein, I felt less full and so ate more carbs in the form of rice, bread, cheese, cookies, cakes, pasta, popcorn, etc. which cause more weight gain.
Yes i'd definitely say that your body shape has a lot to do with the lack of protein and probably other stuff like Omega-3 in your diet. A diet with a lot of grains, starches, and sugars will mess your body up.
- Many endurance runners, even in the Olympics, are vegetarians, so there must be benefits to it.
Endurance runners aren't full physique athletes. They are usually rail thin with wiry type muscles designed for stamina. That's why it's possible to be a vegan and an endurance runner they just need lots of carbs and not as much protein. Distance runners rarely have attractive body types. The people you see with very nice looking bodies are always sprinters, swimmers, fighters etc.. because they are in "functional" sports where the whole body is being worked out.
- Also if you haven't eaten meat for many years, how can you start again? Won't it make your stomach sick to even try?

What do you all think?
You don't have to eat red meat. You can eat fish, free range chicken, etc..

Meat is natural for the body you won't feel sick at all.

Winston, if you could record what you ate daily, the approx. quantity (use a scale if needed), do this for a week and post it here. Without knowing exactly what you're eating, it's difficult to evaluate your intake.

All fruits and vegetables have Medicinal Signatures, showing their use & connection to our organs..:

> Cut a carrot it looks like the digram of a Human eye.
> Cut a tomato it has 4 chambers just like the heart.
> Beans and some peanuts are shaped like kidneys.
> Walnuts look like tiny brains.
> etc.

Coincidence? I don't think so, nature has given us a Doctrine of Signatures, signs for survival! We need to eat whole-grown foods, * Food is medicine *.

We feed ourselves with store bought, pretty packaged stuff that sits on shelves forever; & we end up sick & fat due to eating garbage.
Imagine we pay for the stuff that poisons us & makes us fat !!

One of the common arguments I hear from vegans is that you'll live longer and healthier. I have the exact opposite argument to make. It's pointless to live way into your senior years. Your quality of life drops by a lot when you're old. A relative of mine is in his 80's and he's total crotchety old man. I find a lot of people in their 80's and beyond are really not that happy when you really get to know them. Youth is for having fun. middle age is for enjoying life and maybe having a family. Old age is for getting ready to die.

I follow alot of vegan practices but I'm not vegetarian ... Animals are part of the ecosystem, I understand that, but I don't think they're just here for us to look at & pet lol ... I eat meat about twice a week. I limit myself so I can get more veges in my diet & variety.

My grandparents ate rubbish but both lived into their 90's. Their diet was largely dairy and lard-based carbohydrates. Plus my grandfather was partial to beer. Lots of beer.

At least they ate what they wanted even though I pity them for living so long. I hope when i'm ready to hop off this mortal coil that I have a stroke in my sleep or something when things become not fun.

My uncle ate lots of fried foods and generally did what he wanted. He stroked out at 60 and died instantly. That's a great death. 60 is a good round number to check out at because things usually go downhill big time from that point onward.

Bad news then. Most middle class adults alive today in developed world with reasonable BMI, minimal hereditary heart issues, and healthy habits - eating, exercise, lack of smoke/drink/drugs have life expectancy of around 90+ give or take. If you wanna cut that down significantly, u gotta start developing some extreme bad habits, get obese, etc. Even then, it's hard to bring it down much below 80 unless you really get fat. The other idea is to take up extreme high risk sports when you hit 60. Of course, a lot of old folks commit suicide too. But I would say the wisest course is to find a way to develop spiritually to point of having peace and contentment. I've noticed some very old folks here who seem quite happy. Perhaps Qigong has some real merits.

BTW, extreme longevity is, I believe, mainly a function of extreme genetics. It's still very rare to make it to 100. Yet you will find that people who do often have siblings who make it too in spite of living in different environments, lifestyles, etc.

Hmm I wonder how the Chinese live long... Or is this just how media portrays them? Anyhow, if it is true how do they do it with the amount of pollution in their air? I heard when people arrived back in 08 for the Beijing Olympics they could barely breathe. Maybe the Green Tea? Lol

raw vegan protein bar

Post by Laralogan »

This is a very popular question. And an important one, but even if you aren’t following a plant-based diet, do YOU know how much protein you should be eating on a daily basis?

Mr. Wu if you are a vegetarian you are the hope for humanity.

I have looked at the ECO#'s and have come to the conclusion the only way to stop the current mass extinction is for the human race to go vegetarian.

I did it for 4 months but could not hang with it.

I don't agree with. The fact that two men were healthier after not consuming vegetables for a long period doesn't confirm much effectively. Maybe their ability to do this was inherited. Maybe they would have also been just as consuming healthily only peas and clothes.
