Re: Why Doctors Are Dangerous
Walk more, eat less, don't drink or use drugs, and you'll be fine throughout most of your life. It'll lower your risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Most diseases are diseases of lifestyle, and the reason medications exist is because most people are unwilling to change their lifestyle and want an easy fix. There's some things that need treatment- cancer, genetic causes of hypertension, type 1 diabetes, etc- but if people took care of themselves 90% of illnesses wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, despite counseling literally every patient I've ever had come in with obesity or high blood pressure about lifestyle changes, not a single one of them in all of my career has ever made any meaningful or long-lasting change.Taco wrote: ↑September 6th, 2024, 4:45 amI found this out the hard way....

Though, I will say, the one about narcissism- most doctors openly about we don't know everything and we're just doing our best. The only true narcissists (like, diagnosable and obviously so) I have met are either surgeons, neurologists, or admin. But the primary defense mechanism of narcissism is projection, and it usually is utilized when one's ego feels threatened, ergo, the individual who made the video likely is deflecting his feelings of inferiority by accusing others of being what he, himself, is.

I think you're right about lifestyle being a huge factor in many health issues. It’s frustrating when people overlook the basics like diet, exercise, and sleep, and instead turn to medication as a quick fix. That said, there are times when even those who try to live healthily need help, especially for conditions beyond lifestyle control. Canadian Pharmacy here https://www.canadapharmacy.com/ offers some useful, affordable medications and supplements that can support people in managing these unavoidable issues, like genetic conditions or chronic illnesses. It’s great to have options for both preventive care and necessary treatments, but lifestyle changes still go a long way.

I heard the 'walk more, eat less' type of advice on the radio. That's rather unscientific medical advice, IMO. It applies to the middle and one end of the bell curve. But it's bad advice for anorexics and people who walk the Appalachian Trail and do not eat enough.
Otherwise, lifestyle seems to be the key factor. Do you think most prepackaged foods are bad for us, here in the US? What do you think about taking petroleum-derived prescription medications?
