Internet troubles with my phone, in SE Asia.

Post by Voice of Reason »

I have an unlocked HTC Desire HD.

In Malaysia, I bought a new SIM from Hot Link which included internet access as well. Both worked on my phone.

The next morning the internet wasn't working on my phone, so I took it back to the shop, and after a couple of hours of rigamarole, I was informed that the internet can't work on my phone because it's not compatible.

So it seem that I have to buy a new phone. Should I do this? I'm worried that I will spend the couple hundred on the new phone, only to have it being a pointless exercise, because it's possible my old phone will work with other companies.

Also, does this mean that I may have to purchase a new phone in each country?
