Finding international jobs

Post by momopi »

If you create a resume profile on http://www.dice.com, there's a section under employment information labelled "are you interested in working outside the US?". If you choose Yes, you'll get to select from a list of countries that you might be interested in working abroad.

I was curious if any employer actually use that feature, so I put down China and Taiwan and specified in my resume that I'm willing to travel. Two weeks ago I got a call from a company looking to expand their business in China, they wanted to bring me in for an interview. The HR manager asked "the job may require 50% travel and working across North America and abroad, are you OK with that?"

Me: "Do puppies like biscuits?"

Two weeks later, I signed the employment offer/acceptance letter today. I start training on Monday. The pay is lower than that I was making before, but I don't really care. This is going to be fun!

So how did that work out Momopi? Are they giving you regular work? As a contractor or an employee?

Momopi, you posted a few links to overseas job listings before. It's hard for me to find all of them though. Can you post a list of them so that I can put them in the FAQ section and my expat links page?

Thanks,
Winston

If you like flying on 6 different airplanes in a week and sleeping in planes, airports, and hotel beds, the 100% traveling IT consultant positions are avail due to high turnover.

Airport food sucks, but on the up side, you get to travel on company tab and see a lot of places.
