The Sheep
----------------------------------------------
“I assure you: Anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the door but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The doorkeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.
----------------------------------------------
John 10:1-4
I understand this now. People are sheep, in other words complete and utter morons. They cannot think, they cannot understand. They follow someone "because they recognize his voice" not because he makes logical sense or even because they understand what he is saying. People are dumb like sheep and they follow whoever's voice they recognize. Jesus was a smart guy who understood this. The modern world is a disaster because there are no good shepherds to tell the moronic sheep what to do.

Re: The Sheep
Of course religion has merit if done right. All successful cultures in history were based on a sound religion. There is no other way besides religion to civilize people.
The world isn't globally controlled. Anyone can start a religion and success depends on getting others to join, not on what some central power does.
What I realized when I made this thread is that trying to convince people to join something like Biblic Judaism based on logic is a waste of time. We have a small group now, and we should focus on acting as a priesthood and finding some sheep to shepherd.

Re: The Sheep
The Branch Davidians pushed the limits by stockpiling guns, ignoring the FBI, and doing weird things. Most religious groups like the Amish, Mennonites, and Hasidic Jews are left alone. There is no reason for the federal government to care about these groups since they are not an immediate threat.Ghost wrote:I disagree about centralized power not being a problem. Consider the Branch Davidians. If this community project was going to based outside the anglosphere/femisphere I think it would be a much safer bet. You could argue that other religious groups - like the Amish - have been left alone, but that's the thing - in the U.S. it's a crapshoot. You might be left alone or you might be shot up.
I don't know yet. The sheep concept just occurred to me recently, so I will discuss it with the group next Saturday. So is your small group going to start looking for converts to grow the group? I mean not core members but sheep-like members.

So then why don't you join us? I have no natural charisma, so I can use all the help I can get. I actually wrote a long post about this topic today on the Biblic Judaism site that you can find easily enough. And as you also know, we are looking for a place to settle and we will visit Seguin, Texas in 2 weeks.Ghost wrote:I do think a cult-like setup would be beneficial. People can be brainwashed easier than you might think. Modern culture can do it, or a virtuous community could do it. Of course modern culture rags on cults as evil while practicing the same things except on a societal scale. Most people are going to be led by someone or something, and the human mind is extremely malleable, so using cult-like tactics is probably the best option.
Just a funny aside, a number of years ago someone told me I would make a good preacher. I don't think I'm charismatic, but I can fake it to an extent. Natural charisma will always be best, but you can learn some charisma skills I think.
