The strange concept of gravity

Post by Cornfed »

As I understand it, the concept of gravity was invented as a way of calculating the apparent movements of wandering stars (planets) when combined with various other forms of magical thinking. There was no other purpose for it given that we already had the concepts of density, buoyancy an resistance. It is fairy bizarre if you think about it.

Supposedly there is a force attracting every subatomic particle in the Universe to every other subatomic particle. No mechanism is proposed - it is just a magical assumption. Physicists claim this force somehow propagates at the speed of light, as to claim any faster would go against the relativity bullcrap, but for alleged orbits to be stable they have to assume instantaneous propagation. Other aspects don’t make sense. For example, me and the centre of the earth are supposed to be attracted to each other based on our masses, but how does the centre of the earth know it is the centre of the earth? Surely I would be being pulled in a bunch of different directions by all the atoms in the earth and the forces would largely cancel out.

Like a lot of mainstream cosmology, it doesn’t hold up to any kind of examination.

If you want to go down in history as a genius, just come up with some magical and unobservable process that props up the jerry-built heliocentric theory. Does it seem improbable that all the quadrillions of tons of ocean water would stick to the spinning ball? Well, here's Newton with "gravity." Overcome by the flap of a butterfly's wings, yet strong enough to hold in all the oceans.

Got a problem with inability to demonstrate the earth's motion, and indeed experiments have shown that there is none? Well, here's Einstein with some notion about the relativity of motion that only he, the great genius, can understand. But it must be right, because it saves the heliocentric theory to fight another day.

The interesting thing about Newton was that he openly posited gravity as a religious concept. How does it work? - God makes it work.

What's odd about gravity is that it claims that small objects fall to the earth, while large objects like the moon circle the earth in a precise clockwork predictable manner. Very odd. The official explanation for why the moon doesn't fall to the earth, is that that the speed of the orbit keeps it swinging in space with enough velocity so it doesn't come crashing into the earth. And so the same with all the other moons of the other planets in the solar system. That's odd. What are the odds? If the moon's orbit were random, it would be jerky and unpredictable, not precise and clockwork-like.

Also, no one has ever been able to discover a graviton, the supposed particle of gravity, so it's theoretical isn't it? Why is it called a fact? Anyone can write an equation to explain gravity, but that doesn't prove that a graviton exists.

A lot of things about mainstream cosmology are based on the most tenuous of assumptions. For example, the supposed universal gravitational constant was calculated by means of the Cavendish experiment. Intuitively it seems likely that any result obtained is an artefact of the experiment.
