Oh, my heart aches. It may indeed be the promise land.

I've told this story before, but the most wonderful woman I ever knew was Polish. She was a high school classmate of mine, an immigrant. Spoke perfect English with an obvious accent. Very intelligent and devoutly Catholic. She wrote poetry. Used to teach me sign language and the genus/species names of animals.

If I had a time machine I'd go back and tell young Davey not to let that one go. But I was in a bad spot in my life then. "It gets better young David!"

This girl is how I came to realize Happier Abroad is true.

“But who can say what's best? That's why you need to grab whatever chance you have of happiness where you find it, and not worry about other people too much. My experience tells me that we get no more than two or three such chances in a life time, and if we let them go, we regret it for the rest of our lives.â€￾ - Norwegian Wood

Well at least now I know what to look for.
