america sucks wrote:I saw in the thread about shy Chinese girls that a poster was able to meet some Chinese girls by talking to them in the library. Is that a realistic option? It seems that in the library, no one talks unless they are talking to their friend. How can I start a conversation when everyone can hear us? How do I even start the conversation in the first place?
The college I went to had an hour where foreign students could gather and eat snacks and drink coffee. There is a Baptist center near the local university that has a similar event.
My school also has an hour where FOB students practice English with a volunteer. I've gone to it about 5 times. It's mostly guys who show up, many of whom are either from Saudi Arabia or Korea. I've only been able to chat with a few FOB girls, and most of them seemed uninterested in me and didn't return
Hit on girls at ethnic restaurants. Usually Chinese restos have FOB girls.
How am I supposed to hit on waitresses?

Yeah you read my post about it most of the FOB girls I talk to are in the library, these are the best ones usually because they are the studious ones who may be interested in finding a man. For me though personally I have had not much luck with this. One girl gave me her number and wanted me to go swimming with her on the weekend. But when I called and left message she never responded. Chinese women confuse me, with Filipinas its easier just the other day I cold approached one we had a 2 hr conversation together which turned into a very nice time she was warm could of talked about anything. Latinas also are easier to approach for me and converse with both in English and Spanish. With Chinese women they seem harder to crack maybe because of the language barrier. But I even heard Winston say N.E. Asian women are not used to cold approaches. Which to me maybe why they are closed off to only talking within the social circle scene :roll:

The next thing I will be trying is tutoring at my Uni, because here we have what is called an extension center where you can sign up and tutor students from which most are from China. I just signed up the other day got two female Chinese students. Which kind of sucks because if one of them is nice its going to be hard to connect with both of them compared to just one. Our first date I mean session is next week Monday wish me luck fellas

I don't know how some of you are able to meet international female students so easily. Whenever I try to meet international students, there are always way more guys than girls. Out of the girls that do show up, they are either uninterested and/or don't return. Since I'm in grad school, I'm surrounded by Chinese males. There are a couple cute Chinese girls, but they always speak in Chinese in their clique of friends and I don't know how to break in since my Mandarin is very poor

@Forerunner, @AmericaSucks:

You guys need to work on your foreign lexicon more. You guys b.itch about why it had "gone south" on you, but you guys complained to the point of bringing up the resolution right before your eyes.
I think once you guys nail that or at least get it functional, then that "Uh oooooooooooooooooh/it's magic #guitarRiff" will begin to become reality.

Asian girls, in general, don't like to be 'cold-approached' because it's generally shunned in Asian culture. It's better to become friends with a group of Asians, and then form relationships with females that way.

If you want women who are more direct, than Eastern European, African or Latin American women might be the way to go. ...

If you are interested in a waitress at a Chinese restaurant (or the one who fills the water at a buffet) ask her where she is from. Then ask how long she has been in the US. Then ask her if she has a family (or is married.) In a lot of Asian countries, you ask someone if they are married if you strike up a conversation like this, so if she says 'yes' then you can just act like you are being friendly instead of flirting with a married woman. If she says 'no' you can ask her if she has a boyfriend or fiancé. If she says no, you can ask if she has a day off or what time she gets off from work.

In the library at a university, you could ask a girl what country she is from. Then ask her if all women from that country are as beautiful as she is and take it from there.

Is it any easier to meet FOB girls at a community college than a university? I attend a university now, but there is a community college not too far away

I think you are right because most of them seem very reclusive to other races . However this is not with all asians because with Filipinas give me no problems at all. Just the other day a filipina approached me at the school and we talked for a little then went out two days later to her house she made me dinner. However getting back to the subject here it seems though the worst ones to approach like Winston's mentioned here is NorthEastern Asians specifically.You say shunned but what I don't understand is they seem open with girls approaching them why not men. Why don't they appreciate affection ? I like to touch not a lot but here and there to ease the tension a little. I would just love if one of these FOB women were to approach me one of these days. Take me out their dorm cook me up a nice meal thats really all I am asking for just some fun, I don't want sex just a companion. :D
