I have stolen Gourmet meats in America
If you steal meat or whatever from a shop that amounts to store loss. The store has to compensate for it somehow, usually in increased prices. In severe cases some stores have had to shut down due to theft causing employees to lose their jobs.

Is this something you are proud of?

By the way forum members, what happened to Tsar? The forum has lost its flavour and become somewhat uninteresting since Tsar left. Is he using a different handle?

As a side note, I'm not perfect. I stole a Rubick's Cube as a child. I was caught so the store lost nothing.

I think he's gone. He may have just said he was done, or maybe it was because of references to the age of girls he is interested in. I remember he left, but how he finally left for good... maybe... I forget the details.

I would never steal from a small independent business, but I don't take issue stealing from big corporations. They make lots of money in profits, underpay their staff and then throw away tons of food that has nothing wrong with it anyway.

Tsar has left the forum. I'm still in contact with him, but we stopped talking for a short time. He currently isn't using any new usernames and his account is banned. If ever he wants to return he's welcome to and I hope he does come back.
I worked with someone who was talking about how if you bought a computer from a certain work fund that the organization would not know if you purchased it and kept it for personal use. It sounded to me like he thought it was normal. He also headed something like an investment club where he had some financial responsibility, and he had the training in that area to do it.. It sounded good, but if he thought it was okay to steal or embezzle a computer, I didn't want to invest in his investment.

Stealing is wrong. I wouldn't want to entrust any of my money to someone who thought it was okay to steal from a big store.

I wouldn't steal from another person unless I was desperate. Stealing is wrong. But it's a little more complicated than that. I don't consider stealing from a corporate entity the same as stealing from a neighbour or even a small independent business.

Would you steal if you had no choice? Is it wrong to steal if you're starving to death? What about to feed your kids because you can't afford rising costs? Is it the morally correct decision to allow your children to starve?

As I said these corporations throw tons of food away, they make millions in profit and would not miss a loaf of bread at all. Why should these corporate assholes be allowed to monopolise the food supply. Bollocks to them.
You go from the idea of stealing so as not to starve to death to stealing from corporations.

Corporations are owned by people--- those little grannies drawing money from the pension funds their husband's left them, where the pension is invested in the stock market. Stealing meat from corporations is stealing from the little grandmas.

Ethically, someone who steals to feed his sick baby isn't the same issue as stealing from corporations merely out of a sense of entitlement. But it is still wrong. I know no to steal and that I have to trust God for provision. I went through years of poverty with a family in graduate school.

Someone at church is the son of missionaries. The missions agency didn't send the check one month from the fundraising, and they sensed they weren't to call, but just trust God. His parents cooked up all the food in the house. They got down to the navy beans they were using to teach his little sister to count. There was no more food. The next day, there was no food in the house. They opened the door and there were twelve bags of groceries.

You can also read the testimonies of George Muller. He made it a practice not to tell of his ministries needs. His ministry was caring for orphans in the UK back in the 1800's when there were all those orphans on the streets, bands of young pick-pockets, like in the movies. He built an orphanage that grew quite large, and would just pray for needs. They'd run out of food and food would show up in the doorstep. Over and over again that sort of thing happened. He had a ledger where he kept track of answered prayers. He also reported once a year, as I recall, after it was all over, the state of the orphanage and told the testimonies of answered prayer later.

But back to theft, yes it does hurt people. Do corporations throw more food away than individuals? It is possible because of lawsuits. I heard some huge amount, maybe 25% of American's food ended up as waste. That could feed a reasonable-sized country. But do other countries have wasted food? Food does spoil? Maybe the issue is we have refrigerators full of stuff we forget about and don't eat and have to throw it out, and that this is less of a problem for those who have 10 things to eat. But if they don't have refrigeration in a house in a developing country, stuff can go bad over night.

I heard about a guy decades ago who made a lot of money making a machine that turned waste food into dog food pellets. I don't know if they still do that at corporations that throw out food.

Large grocery stores would try to prevent waste. Right before meat expires, they can put some sauce on it, or even cook it, and sell it for a higher price. So instead of raw ribs, you pay extra for the precooked ribs or the Korean ribs packet with seasoned meat and onions. They are careful about trying not to let stuff spoil.
