Maria Butina

So, Maria Butina is out & back in Russia (gladly). Let's look at how f***ed-up her situation was:

(1) She comes to America legally. I can understand why a spy might not parachute in secretly, but a fake name & maybe country of origin might be the way to go.

(2) She puts her stuff on social media. Seems a profoundly un-spy-like thing to do, especially we. It wouldn't be too hard to put it on their people's social media, for whatever reason a "spy" would bother in the first place.

(3) She gets locked-up, strip searched (both extra & regular- isn't it interesting that this is the sort of thing that's directed at people who aren't even convicted of anything, proportionate or not?), and generally pressured into "confessing."

(4) Various media organizations make her out to be all kinds of things, seemingly because they want to. I guess that the idea that someone can do whatever they want with their own businesses is something people took a bit literally.

(5) This is the same kind of shit they pull all the time. Doesn't matter if someone's foreign or not.

Thoughts? Origin stories? Some kind of sentiment?
