Romania warning

Post by gsjackson »

The warning is that, while most of the women in Romania seem to be pleasant and fairly easy to talk to, it is possible to be be shot down in an almost comically brusque manner. Happened to me twice today, my last day in the country.

These women not only wouldn't speak to me, they wouldn't even look at me, as if I was some kind of beggar importuning them for money. While my approaches weren't particularly aggressive and were polite enough, once they responded in such a comically rude manner, I kept talking to them just for the sake of harassment. The first one wouldn't respond in any way, the second one waived me away continually and I'm quite certain never even laid eyes on me at all, so she had no idea what the person she was dismissing looked like. The first one may have caught a glimpse of me at first, but wouldn't look at me at all after that.

As to what was going on here, it's of course mystifying, and no doubt has to do with individual circumstances and predilections, but I will note that all of the women who have shot me down brusquely (though never this bad before) have had enormous jugs and decidedly unattractive faces. Some might call them ugly. Make of it what you will.

So, brace yourself lads, water off a duck's back and all that. You can get shot down in the worst way imaginable and, I'm here to tell you, still feel fine and confident as ever afterwards. Just be aware that these sort of things can happen abroad, even worse than in the U.S., where they will usually invoke the "boyfriend" right off the bat and not be out-and-out rude.

Just wanted to add to this post that something Rock and I talked about two years ago in Thailand may be relevant to this occasion. We concluded that looking for lust and looking for love are mutually incompatible activities. It's maybe been a long-time problem for me. I wanted to nail these women, but there's no way I could look at those faces over a breakfast table for a long period of time. So maybe the universe is sending me a message.

But still be aware that Romania -- and I would imagine similar southeastern Europe cultures -- can foster some remarkable rudeness. And don't let it discourage you.

Thank you gsjackson for that information. At least you had the guts to approach those women.

Sorry gsjackson that this happened to you. And you went all the way to Romania to meet these women. This is truly terrible...
Modern women should be taught a lesson or two how to be polite to men. It seems that Millennial women don't have any consideration for men or anyone else for that matter.
I actually wanted to go to Romania. I like slender brunette women. I might still do it, but now with lots of caution.
Sorry that you had to suffer so much. I know how much a rude rejection hurts.

You only suffer if you inflict it upon yourself. You can't take these things personally. They all have different agendas that have nothing to do with you. I've met a lot of very friendly women in Romania. Just be aware -- especially approaching ones who don't look too classy -- that unspeakably bad manners are a possibility.

Are you average looking or above average looking, if you had to guess? If you are good looking and hitting on women who are very unpretty, then you should expect to receive horrible treatment. Your handsomeness will work against you with unattractive women. It is not a plus, but a negative. Remember that the woman is the glory of the man. She needs to be beautiful enough to be your glory. If she is not as objectively good looking as you are, then that may cause a problem for the women who are less than average looking.

Also, it sounds like you received no positive indicators of interest. I would wait for eye contact with smile, or eye contact then looks down, or eye contact then looks away, or hair flip. If you did not receive a sign, then you did a cold approach. You just need to accept that cold approaches will be much much much less successful than warm approaches, naturally. In my experience, cold approaches rarely work. Whereas if the woman isnt a teasing B, warm approaches almost always work, because the woman has already decided she's interested.

How many women did you hook up with in Romania?

I was considered good looking when I was younger. Here's what I look like now: http://www.geographyofhealth.com -- in "about" section. What you suggest may be the problem.

There is such a small percentage of women I'm attracted to that I can't wait for warm approaches. And Romanian women of any age do not seem to give indications of interest, at least to me. Far more of that in the U.S. No hookups in Romania.

I wouldn't worry about it. You'll never get a 100% strike rate in terms of every woman being pleasant to you wherever in the world you are.

Paris airport -- a major babe just laid a big smile on me. Win some, lose some.

You should have gone back to talk to her. See, that could be a woman giving you a signal right there. Airports are one of my favorite places to meet new women. It always seems like many single girls are flying around and looking to at least flirt. So now you can't say that women don't send you positive indicators. You just have to sit back and be patient.

What I make of it is you are mentally disturbed if you are approaching women you don't find attractive. You been reading RooshV and feeling like a failure because you don't have a collection of foreign "flags"? Show some self-respect and self-discipline in keeping with your age. You want sex with younger women with big jugs? Hire an escort. Legal and cheap in Romania.

Romanian people are NOT Slavic people. Their culture is NOT similar to others in South-East Europe, like those from Bulgaria or Serbia.
They are different by their behavior, language, customs etc.

In Western Europe the reputation of Romania is rather bad - plenty of criminals, lazy people, impoverished villages etc.

When I was still living in Europe, my experiences with that country were not really so nice. Somehow 50/50. Romanian women are not so much interested into mixing up with foreign men. Enjoy a nice vacation in Romania with an escort, spend some vacation and travel not only to the Black Sea Coast, but also rent a car and drive around inside the country, that's OK, but a nice long-term relationship with a faithful woman from there? Not sure about that, I doubt it...

She came and sat down by me. We had a long conversation. College girl from Tennessee, very attractive, very nice. Big Christian, who feels obligated to be nice to everyone, but after yesterday I'll take any kind of friendliness I can get from attractive women. Another cutie chatted me up in the passport control line in Atlanta, so it was a compensatory day for the ego.

American women do send out indications of interest. Never saw it in Romania, though most were friendly when you started chatting them up.

Generally I was impressed with Romanian women, and found them somewhat comparable to Serbs, though the English of Serbs was much better and they were able to express quite a bit more personality in English. But both countries seem a bit ground down by years of poverty, and in the case of the Serbs, war, and that might have some negative effect on the long-term outlooks of the people.
