Females Want Nuptial Partners With Over W300 Mil.

What are the financial terms of endearment for Korean men and women in marriage?

According to a match-making company, men expect women to have more than 100 million won ($69,000), while men are expected to have over 300 million won ($210,000), appearing to show that both sexes have somewhat unrealistic standards for marriage.

Biennare conducted a survey of 264 female and 264 male members and found 31 percent of male respondents want their nuptial partner to have more than 100 million won, followed by 21 percent who wanted at least 20 million won and 14 percent with 10 million won.

For women, 27 percent answered more than 300 million won, followed by 24 percent with more than 500 million won and 17 percent with at least 100 million won.

Since a university graduate earns less than 24 million won a year pre-tax, the amount of money is unfeasible for most people, analysts said.

Such standards are a huge jump from two years ago, when a majority of men expected 30 million won from women and women wanted about 100 million won from men.

Biennare spokesman Sohn Dong-kyu said, ``As the global meltdown is affecting everyone, more people are giving up the idea of saving money after marriage but crave someone who already has it.''

Women were more determined to find financial stability than men. On average, about 92 percent said they want their partners to have more than 100 million won when getting married.

They said the appearance or outlook of men was the least important factor in seeking spouses, followed by age gap and academic background. Instead, they said annual income, potential and fame to be the most affecting factors.

Many males still stuck for appearance, as more than 54 percent said they want their spouses to be exceedingly attractive.
