All you need is a mobile number and passport , the former as you've seen for yourself is really easy to get.
Also not sure about the US but in singapore if you open a store or restaurant you need a special license to sell alcohol and alcohol is heavily taxed, there is no such requirement or tax in China lol

For many working expats have someone else do stuff for you like make doctor's appointments, do the banking, call taxis and order lunch to be delivered. Because of this more of their own time is freed up.

Well, there's one freedom I admire about America and that's gun rights. The Second Amendment is a great freedom that other countries do not have. Btw, with all the Whites and Blacks and other minorities fighting with each other, gun sales have exploded recently.
I want to have my two cents in this discussion: the freedoms described are genuine, but there are drawbacks as well. Some of the cons include, Internet censorship and slow Internet speeds, Chinese rudeness and lack of cleanliness, and Chinese people's materialism and greed that would make any American think twice of coming to China.
If you are non-Asian, you will most definitely face racism and xenophobia and nasty comments from some Chinese people. That's a fact of life for a foreigner here. No p.c. here. I've heard some truly reprehensible racist comments here by Chinese towards non-Chinese people.
What China has that is truly wonderful is that you can be your own person. That is, you can be a genuine person and not have to 'act' to please other people or cliques. It's easy to get involved in business here, so many come to China for businesses and economic opportunities.
As my friend, Ian, mentioned, the police are genuinely not interested in bullying the average citizen, unlike in the States. However, if you are a foreigner and you need their help, they will mock and ridicule you as they did with me and another foreign friend of mine.
Once you get to know Chinese people, they can be really great people. They will invite you to dinner, sporting activities, etc. It's great. Chinese people are much easier to get to know than your typical, 'cold', Taiwanese or Japanese person.
Another obvious benefit of China: lot's of beautiful girls, many of them sweet and young. But be warned, more and more of them are becoming 'Westernized,' materialistic and plain bitchy. They're turning into your typical Asian American 'Tiger moms.' Lol.
Overall, China has been good to me, warts and all, and I'm glad I made the switch to come here rather than stay in the sinking ship called United States of America. But unless I marry a Chinese woman, I will not live the rest of my life in China. The Philippines, Thailand or Korea are much better countries to live in, in my opinion.
If I was Asian-American, I would have been out of America and back to whatever ancestral homeland my parents came from at the age of 18, did the military service and the rest of it. No way would I have spent any time chasing below average white women hoping they take pity on me or being spoken down to by wankers giving 'but where are you REALLY from?'
China, Korea and Japan are great places for Americans of Asian ethnicity, it takes time to adapt though, a fair number of local yokels think you are no more advanced than a monkey - who the hell cares what they think? #25: Claim that Asian tax rate is 10% is not correct. Income tax rates vary across Asia, Taiwan is 12-40%, Japan 20-40%, Singapore is 15-20%, etc. Lower tax rates can be found in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
It is true that Chinese labor making average labor wage of 3000 RMB per month has 10% income tax rate. But if you made over 4500 RMB/month it jumps to 20%. China's income tax rate goes up to 45%. Those who currently reside in China can probably comment better.
It is also not true that those in lowest income level in the US pay 20% income tax. Currently the lowest federal income tax bracket is 10%. If you are single and making up to 37,500/year ($$75,300/year for couples or $50,400 for head of household) your tax rate is 15%. State income tax differs wildly.
Under Trump'a plan married filing jointly up to $75,000/year will be 12%.

According to what my uncle who previously lived in Shanghai told me, what Winston enjoy today is a fraction of what Taiwanese men enjoyed on mainland back in the 1990s to early 2000s.
When Deng opened China to the West, Taiwan under KMT still prohibited contact with few exceptions. Taiwan was actually late to jump in the China investment as western companies were invited first. However after Tienmen protest in 1989 the west imposed sanctions and many companies left. Taiwanese investors stepped in during 1990s and it was their golden era. They invested heavily in shanghai region when it was still cheap and had their pick of local women. Men from Hong Kong also invested across the border in Shenzhen and it was happy hunting grounds for them. It got to a point where local schools had classes teaching girls how not to become a concubine.

Gun sales boom depends on panic buy. Obama was the best salesman for gun industry even though he didn't really do much with gun control. The perception that he would drove up gun sales. The prospect of Hillary being president also drove up gun sales. State level gun control laws also drive local sales.
With Trump's election we can expect gun sales to drop and revenue for gun makers to go on the decline. Since he is pro 2A we should not expect another panic buy until next election except for state level politics (CA).
With expected decline in revenue and affordable 3D milling "printers" in near future, I would probably not invest in "gun stocks". Also, the AR-15 market is already way too saturated.

The communists have done everything in their power to prevent Taiwan from being recognized as a sovereign nation by world government bodies such as the UN. Even to this day, the UN still does not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation, even though it has its own government, its own culture, its own language, its own president, its own economy and so on.
The United States Previously recognized Taiwan as a nation, but that changed under President Nixon, who dropped Taiwan to embrace communist China as the “official” ruler of all China, including Taiwan. (This was the first selling out of Taiwan by the United States.)
Ever since then, all U.S. presidents have refused to recognize Taiwan because they didn’t want to anger China, the largest purchaser of U.S. Treasury debt. In order for the U.S. government to keep running massive debt spending, they needed foreign suckers (er, I mean “governments”) to keep buying U.S. debt while the Federal Reserve continued printing more fiat currency money to fund its increasingly power-hungry growth of big government. On top of that, China is also obviously a huge trading partner with the United States, and it supplies U.S. consumers with cheap plastic crap sold at WalMart, helping to convince the dumbed-down, fluoridated masses that life must be okay since they can still buy non-stick cookware for $4.99.

Today, tens of thousands of Taiwan business people live in China (or visit China frequently) to oversee “Taiwan” factories that are actually offshored to China for their cheap labor and practically non-existent environmental regulations.
As all this is going on, China is routinely and deceptively manipulating its currency in order to create an artificial advantage in exporting products to other nations. This currency manipulation makes a mockery of “free trade,” and when combined with China’s utter lack of environmental regulations, it gives China a wildly unfair advantage in international trade. President-elect Trump correctly identified China’s currency manipulation as an enemy of legitimate free trade, and this is why Trump will very likely (and correctly) initiate a trade war with China. Yes, it’s time to start slapping tariffs on imported goods from China. To further leverage their export advantage, China is pushing hard for Trump to maintain America’s “climate change taxes” so that energy production in the USA is financially penalized. Meanwhile, China is releasing extreme pollution from “dirty coal” that’s cheap to produce, making Chinese manufacturing very cheap compared to USA production due to energy costs associated with all manufacturing.
And yet, China’s pollution blows right across North America, depositing mercury, cadmium, tungsten and other toxic heavy metals all across the U.S. landscape. In other words, U.S. consumers get cheap goods from China while exporting U.S. manufacturing jobs but importing pollution from China. What a deal! The result is a nation of unemployed Americans living on food stamps and voting for Democrats to bail them out with more government entitlements… in other words, a Clinton paradise.
“Climate change,” you see, is just another economic hoax being leveraged by China to suppress U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. It’s all completely bogus, founded in quack science and dirty politics.
