Gadfly is Asian, yick is coloured....yet they seem good people...the cynics are right. This forum must be for losers. I must be a loser since I like non white people  that is the logic being applied.

Really, this argument is getting ridiculous. The good intelligent people stand out no matter what race. And they tend to do well by the standards they set. The depros also stand out and most cases they seem like good people as well. It is only their own views of themselves that is negative.

Go to the museums

Read a few books about the place
Try all the food
Talk to the taxi drivers
Meet expats who are not from your country

It is a frustrating place in many ways, but - don't just stew in your apartment, don't get too isolated, don't just try to pick up girls!

Ethan_sg has more China freedoms to add:

"It looks good Winston . Perhaps you can add the freedom to bring outside food drink and alcohol to restaurants as well lol

Or the freedom to use toilets in random street restaurants without being patrons lol

Or the freedom to sit at McDonald's or KFC and use their free wifi without ordering anything lol

Or that there is no minimum age for buying alcohol or cigarettes lol

Or the freedom to dress however you like to nightclubs , even shorts are allowed lol

Also did you know that in many cities in china, senior citizens over a certain age enjoy free public transport lol.

Oh and also the freedom to set up a bank account in china as a foreign tourist with no valid residential address, even a hotel address is fine , even if you're only in china for a few days, no minimum amount is required and it can be set up in less than half an hour at a bank lol. All you need is a mobile number and passport , the former as you've seen for yourself is really easy to get.

Also not sure about the US but in singapore if you open a store or restaurant you need a special license to sell alcohol and alcohol is heavily taxed, there is no such requirement or tax in China lol

Also unlike the US the vast majority of of policemen in China don't carry guns around , that's only reserved for emergency situations. Even the police look down to earth, human and friendly ,, unlike the US police who look like soulless inhuman impersonal brutes."

Freedom to buy any pirated movie on DVD you want for a very cheap price and return to the shop if your not satisfied with the quality.

For many working expats have someone else do stuff for you like make doctor's appointments, do the banking, call taxis and order lunch to be delivered. Because of this more of their own time is freed up.

Freedom from being handed flyers which are in Chinese language if you don't look Chinese.

Freedom to negotiate the price of nearly anything.

Freedom to chose from wide range of inner-city transport options.

No wonder China just overtook US with highest number of billionaires in the world. :D

China tops US in numbers of billionaires

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-37640156

China's annual rich list has indicated that, once again, the country has more dollar billionaires than the US, and the gap is widening.

Property magnate Wang Jianlin of Dalian Wanda tops the list of 594 billionaires in the country, ahead of 535 billionaires in the US.

Well, there's one freedom I admire about America and that's gun rights. The Second Amendment is a great freedom that other countries do not have. Btw, with all the Whites and Blacks and other minorities fighting with each other, gun sales have exploded recently.

I want to have my two cents in this discussion: the freedoms described are genuine, but there are drawbacks as well. Some of the cons include, Internet censorship and slow Internet speeds, Chinese rudeness and lack of cleanliness, and Chinese people's materialism and greed that would make any American think twice of coming to China.

If you are non-Asian, you will most definitely face racism and xenophobia and nasty comments from some Chinese people. That's a fact of life for a foreigner here. No p.c. here. I've heard some truly reprehensible racist comments here by Chinese towards non-Chinese people.

What China has that is truly wonderful is that you can be your own person. That is, you can be a genuine person and not have to 'act' to please other people or cliques. It's easy to get involved in business here, so many come to China for businesses and economic opportunities.

As my friend, Ian, mentioned, the police are genuinely not interested in bullying the average citizen, unlike in the States. However, if you are a foreigner and you need their help, they will mock and ridicule you as they did with me and another foreign friend of mine.

Once you get to know Chinese people, they can be really great people. They will invite you to dinner, sporting activities, etc. It's great. Chinese people are much easier to get to know than your typical, 'cold', Taiwanese or Japanese person.

Another obvious benefit of China: lot's of beautiful girls, many of them sweet and young. But be warned, more and more of them are becoming 'Westernized,' materialistic and plain bitchy. They're turning into your typical Asian American 'Tiger moms.' Lol.

Overall, China has been good to me, warts and all, and I'm glad I made the switch to come here rather than stay in the sinking ship called United States of America. But unless I marry a Chinese woman, I will not live the rest of my life in China. The Philippines, Thailand or Korea are much better countries to live in, in my opinion.

If I was Asian-American, I would have been out of America and back to whatever ancestral homeland my parents came from at the age of 18, did the military service and the rest of it. No way would I have spent any time chasing below average white women hoping they take pity on me or being spoken down to by wankers giving 'but where are you REALLY from?'

China, Korea and Japan are great places for Americans of Asian ethnicity, it takes time to adapt though, a fair number of local yokels think you are no more advanced than a monkey - who the hell cares what they think? There are people who think the same about them back home - let them all get together and duke it out - I would pay to watch it.

Now, something else that I love about China - NO political commentary - or no lying politicians taking up my f***ing headspace with their lies - back in the UK - the referendum for Brexit went on for THREE SOLID MONTHS - now, if I had been back there with no escape then that would have done my head in but in China - there is no need for a politician to lie to you haha! And I prefer it that way.

Another thing, in the UK - the commercialisation of Christmas has now gone too far and Christmas neuro-programming starts as early as September - which is wrong because now they (big business) use pavlovian techniques on the masses to buy shit they can't afford and don't need for Jesus's birthday - none of that in China, even their CNY is subdued compared to Christmas back home - it is December the 1st and people back home and sick to the back teeth of Christmas already, if you have kids, some families are buying shit as early as February - they are saving all year for Christmas.

Quick comments on 2 points;

#10: The claim that firearms is not avail or not avail on black market is incorrect.

Hunters, certain herdsman, certain tribals, and sporting/hunting clubs do possess firearms in China. Also when they have amnesty gun buy backs they collect hundreds of thousands of illegal firearms each time, so the black market for firearms Exist and latest source is smuggled in from Vietnam. Gun violence is rare because they are harder to obtain.

In terms of violent crime the number of people murdered in China is actually comparable to the US in total numbers. China has lower murder rate (1.12) vs US (4.5) because they have higher population. But if the news reported murders per incident, China had just as many.

#25: Claim that Asian tax rate is 10% is not correct. Income tax rates vary across Asia, Taiwan is 12-40%, Japan 20-40%, Singapore is 15-20%, etc. Lower tax rates can be found in Hong Kong and Malaysia.

It is true that Chinese labor making average labor wage of 3000 RMB per month has 10% income tax rate. But if you made over 4500 RMB/month it jumps to 20%. China's income tax rate goes up to 45%. Those who currently reside in China can probably comment better.

It is also not true that those in lowest income level in the US pay 20% income tax. Currently the lowest federal income tax bracket is 10%. If you are single and making up to 37,500/year ($$75,300/year for couples or $50,400 for head of household) your tax rate is 15%. State income tax differs wildly.

Under Trump'a plan married filing jointly up to $75,000/year will be 12%.

===========

According to what my uncle who previously lived in Shanghai told me, what Winston enjoy today is a fraction of what Taiwanese men enjoyed on mainland back in the 1990s to early 2000s.

When Deng opened China to the West, Taiwan under KMT still prohibited contact with few exceptions. Taiwan was actually late to jump in the China investment as western companies were invited first. However after Tienmen protest in 1989 the west imposed sanctions and many companies left. Taiwanese investors stepped in during 1990s and it was their golden era. They invested heavily in shanghai region when it was still cheap and had their pick of local women. Men from Hong Kong also invested across the border in Shenzhen and it was happy hunting grounds for them. It got to a point where local schools had classes teaching girls how not to become a concubine.

Gun sales boom depends on panic buy. Obama was the best salesman for gun industry even though he didn't really do much with gun control. The perception that he would drove up gun sales. The prospect of Hillary being president also drove up gun sales. State level gun control laws also drive local sales.

With Trump's election we can expect gun sales to drop and revenue for gun makers to go on the decline. Since he is pro 2A we should not expect another panic buy until next election except for state level politics (CA).

With expected decline in revenue and affordable 3D milling "printers" in near future, I would probably not invest in "gun stocks". Also, the AR-15 market is already way too saturated.

Right below is the content of link from Starchild. Winston, waiting for you to debunk this with something like 50 more pages of your stuff lol.

Keep reading if you want to know the real story about Trump, Taiwan and communist China. While mainstream media outlets are losing their minds over the fact that Taiwan president Tsai Ying-Wen called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his election victory, the simple, irrefutable fact is that mainstream media reporters are not only intentionally dishonest, they are incredibly ignorant of geopolitical reality.

As someone who lived in Taiwan, speaks Mandarin Chinese and traveled throughout Asia, I can tell you a few key truths that the rest of the media doesn’t know (or won’t admit).

Let’s start with the basics: Communist China is a bigoted, intolerant, radical leftist communist regime that can best be described as being run by “libtards with nukes.” The Red China government routinely arrests people for their religious beliefs and harvests their organs for black market profits. The best way to imagine China is to think about where California is right now with mandatory vaccines, political correctness and “safe space” colleges, then fast forward about 25 years and add in a layer of massive industrial pollution. That’s China. It’s deeply corrupt, hopelessly polluted and run by completely insane radical leftists who bully the entire world with their insane demands.

Taiwan, on the other hand, is a nation of free markets, entrepreneurship, innovation and democracy. Taiwan might be viewed as “the Texas of Asia,” except it’s a whole lot smaller than Texas, and citizens can’t own firearms. The Taiwan people are amazingly intelligent, resilient and determined. They’re also honest and hardworking, and anyone who deals with imported goods from Asia knows that Taiwan manufacturers have far higher quality and ethics than China manufacturers.

Communist China ridiculously claims it still owns Taiwan

Now here’s the real piece you need to know in all this: Ever since Chiang Kai-shek split off from the mainland and set up his own sovereign government in Taiwan (back in the 1940’s), communist China has claimed it “owns” Taiwan. The communists have done everything in their power to prevent Taiwan from being recognized as a sovereign nation by world government bodies such as the UN. Even to this day, the UN still does not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation, even though it has its own government, its own culture, its own language, its own president, its own economy and so on.

The United States Previously recognized Taiwan as a nation, but that changed under President Nixon, who dropped Taiwan to embrace communist China as the “official” ruler of all China, including Taiwan. (This was the first selling out of Taiwan by the United States.)

Ever since then, all U.S. presidents have refused to recognize Taiwan because they didn’t want to anger China, the largest purchaser of U.S. Treasury debt. In order for the U.S. government to keep running massive debt spending, they needed foreign suckers (er, I mean “governments”) to keep buying U.S. debt while the Federal Reserve continued printing more fiat currency money to fund its increasingly power-hungry growth of big government. On top of that, China is also obviously a huge trading partner with the United States, and it supplies U.S. consumers with cheap plastic crap sold at WalMart, helping to convince the dumbed-down, fluoridated masses that life must be okay since they can still buy non-stick cookware for $4.99.

All the while, U.S. leaders (who were of course complete sellouts to the globalists) looked the other way on China’s extreme human rights abuses in order to maintain “economic stability.” None of the U.S. Presidents since the 1970’s have dared even accept a phone call from Taiwan, purely out of fear of angering China, the communist bully nation run by libtards with nukes.

As all this was happening, China was of course constantly threatening to stage a military invasion of Taiwan. This stance continues to this very day.

Taiwan’s economy is now deeply intertwined with China’s factories and cheap labor

But things have now become more complicated on the economic side. Taiwan manufacturing businesses, in search of ever cheaper labor, began opening factories in China. This involved a massive shift of manufacturing technology to China, essentially handing over technology in exchange for cheap labor. Today, tens of thousands of Taiwan business people live in China (or visit China frequently) to oversee “Taiwan” factories that are actually offshored to China for their cheap labor and practically non-existent environmental regulations.

As all this is going on, China is routinely and deceptively manipulating its currency in order to create an artificial advantage in exporting products to other nations. This currency manipulation makes a mockery of “free trade,” and when combined with China’s utter lack of environmental regulations, it gives China a wildly unfair advantage in international trade. President-elect Trump correctly identified China’s currency manipulation as an enemy of legitimate free trade, and this is why Trump will very likely (and correctly) initiate a trade war with China. Yes, it’s time to start slapping tariffs on imported goods from China. The smirking neoliberal economists who taught you in college that “tariffs are always bad” are totally clueless about geopolitical reality.

China pushing false climate change narrative to give themselves a trade advantage

To further leverage their export advantage, China is pushing hard for Trump to maintain America’s “climate change taxes” so that energy production in the USA is financially penalized. Meanwhile, China is releasing extreme pollution from “dirty coal” that’s cheap to produce, making Chinese manufacturing very cheap compared to USA production due to energy costs associated with all manufacturing.

And yet, China’s pollution blows right across North America, depositing mercury, cadmium, tungsten and other toxic heavy metals all across the U.S. landscape. In other words, U.S. consumers get cheap goods from China while exporting U.S. manufacturing jobs but importing pollution from China. What a deal! The result is a nation of unemployed Americans living on food stamps and voting for Democrats to bail them out with more government entitlements… in other words, a Clinton paradise.

“Climate change,” you see, is just another economic hoax being leveraged by China to suppress U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. It’s all completely bogus, founded in quack science and dirty politics. Yet Obama kept it all going for the obvious reason that one of his primary goals from day one was to destroy U.S. economic productivity (while also destroying American culture, sovereignty and democracy).

Globalists are now aligned with China to spread communism and crush freedom in Taiwan and the USA

The globalists are all colluding to destroy America, suppress Taiwan and take over the world: Communist China, Barack Obama, George Soros, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates… these people see freedom and sovereignty of nations like Taiwan and the USA as threats to the globalist agenda (of total economic domination and obedience enslavement of the world population).

Trump, like Taiwan, is a threat to the globalist agenda. That’s why Taiwan’s media has recently been taken over by globalists who print all the same fake news you hear on CNN and NPR. Taiwan’s recent election of Tsai Ying-Wen was almost exactly the same sort of anti-establishment uprising we experienced in America with the election of Donald Trump.

Just like the Democrats in America are all left-wing commie-loving globalist f##ktards, the “KMT” party in Taiwan is exactly the same thing. But Taiwan’s new president, Tsai Ying-Wen, represents the “DPP” party, which is all about Taiwan independence and sovereignty. In fact, the first thing China did after she won the election was to threaten Taiwan with a military invasion.

In other words, the election uprising we just saw with Trump in the USA already took place a few months ago with Thai Ying-Wen in Taiwan. It’s a global phenomenon, too: consider BREXIT and the upcoming elections in France and Italy. Everywhere you look, the people are rejecting the corrupt, globalist political elites.

It’s also important to note that Taiwan lived under Japanese occupation during World War II. People still alive today in Taiwan suffered mass starvation, brutal rapes and a military police state under the Japanese emperor. They know what it’s like to live as slaves under a brutal dictatorship, and they aren’t going to let that happen again.

That’s why Taiwan is defiant against Chinese rule. It’s also why Donald Trump should recognize Taiwan as a sovereign nation. The people of Taiwan deserve our support as freedom-loving Americans.

Globalists hope you never learn the truth about Taiwan and China

The reason the Wall Street Journal won’t tell you any of this is because WSJ writers work for the same globalist manipulators who are trying to enslave humanity and rule the world with fraudulent currency and electronic totalitarianism.

Now you know why the corrupt, globalist-run mainstream media is condemning Trump for accepting a simple phone call from the President of Taiwan.

This is ridiculous. We don’t need Winston to debunk this stuff. And I think it's not exactly that they arrest people for their religious beliefs, kill them and harvest their organs as this article suggests. They use the organs of those executed usually for crimes such as corruption, murder and treason. It's not like they are rounding Christians and feeding them to the lions. I'm not saying what they do is OK, but let's try not to exaggerate. It reminds me of an article I saw in the paper today claiming, basically, that director Bertolucci and actor Marlon Brando raped the lead actress in 'A Last Tango in Paris' because they did not warn her about a rape scene in the movie. What the article fails to tell us is that the rape scene was simulated. I'm not saying that they didn't take advantage of her in some way, but the papers only aim is to create outrage, the facts be damned. Same for the article starchild gave us.

The original problem here was that Winston was a little naive about freedoms in China. We need to establish some balance - rather than go directly to the opposite extreme. For example OutWest talks of 10 million murdered, I presume that he is talking about the Great Leap Forward from the 50s and cultural revolution from the 60s. I don't see those as being particularly relevant to the original essay. By posting this you are just going to give Winston more misinformation and harden his stance/attitude.

The person who wrote this is completely biased and misleading people who don't know any better.
By the way - liberals in the West are in bed with China to spread communism? I think what we have in China these days is state controlled capitalism...not communism at all. Starchild what do you know about this - zilch! It was them aliens!

Does anyone believe this? I'm sure China wouldn't mind leveraging this if they could, but they are hardly at the forefront of wanting to pass binding climate change legislation as far as I know.

But things have now become more complicated on the economic side. Taiwan manufacturing businesses, in search of ever cheaper labor, began opening factories in China. Partially true, but very outdated. Certainly East Coast China has developed beyond the sweat shop of the world. Sounds like this guy was living in Taiwan in the 1990s.
