Let's organize a Meetup (San Diego/Tijuana)

Meeting with Winston made me realize that it's much better to meet in real life than just posting on a forum. So let's organize a meetup.

I am open to meeting anywhere, but I will make a specific suggestion. My suggestion is meeting in Tijuana for a weekend. So we meet in the San Diego airport Friday night, go together to Tijuana, and return to the airport Sunday afternoon. The reason I suggest Tijuana is simple. Tijuana is the most convenient place that is actually abroad to meet for a weekend. We could meet elsewhere in Mexico, but that would be harder to get to. We could meet somewhere in America, but that seems inappropriate for a group called "happier abroad".

Anyway, my main suggestion is to organize a meetup, anywhere and any time, so that we can meet in real life. What do you think?

I don't have a problem meeting in TJ, the bus ride is cheap (under $30 R/T). It all depends when it happens however, I seriously plan to be out of the country by the end of the summer.

This is a great idea. We should all meet up so we can get to know each other as a real group.

The problem is that we are all in different locations.

I'm not sure about Tijuana though. It's rowdy and some here may be afraid to go there. The red light district there is also distracting and full of noise. I say that we meet in San Diego for two days and have a group get together to get to know each other first before going down there. Maybe a camping trip together would be good too. It's easier to relax and talk to each other while camping.

I would like this idea too. I live in California so Tijuana or San Diego is doable for me.

I'd personally prefer Tijuana, better food and it does feel like going abroad. I went there a few years ago and I wasn't afraid. I remember walking home from Zona Norte at 1am in the morning. As long as you're away from Zona Norte it's not as loud.

It's not rowdy. While I haven't been down in a few years, reports from people I trust say there are no personal safety issues. Stop fear mongering...

If some are afraid to go there, then they need to get over the fear as it will allow them to consider more options overseas than the usual suspects.

Ok let's organize it then. I am putting fschmidt in charge of organizing it. Even if only 5 people show up, that's still better than nothing.

Momopi and Jester live in Southern California too, and can probably attend.

We should have a meetup in San Diego too, for those who don't want to go to Tijuana. San Diego has many camping spots along the beach that we could rent too. I camped there with my church youth group in the 80's. It was awesome.

Marklambo is familiar with TJ too and can help organize that aspect of it.

Do you mean at the same time or another time?

At the same time of course. Part 1 and Part 2. Let's not overcomplicate things. lol

So you mean like part 1 in San Diego and part 2 in Tijuana? The problem is time. My idea was just to meet for a weekend which wouldn't really be enough time for a 2 part meetup. How do you imagine organizing this? Did you have a longer meetup in mind?

Let's all hail Winston.

Winston put FSchmidt in charge.

Thus - Tijuana it is!

DJ is right, not dangerous unless wandering alone after dark in the worst area. Kind of like New York City, if New York had no gangs and no crazy people.

Who knows the place? Mr. Peabody? Choose a spot. Lots of good bars and restaurants in TJ, we can easily google for a place.

Anyway, I'm IN!!

+10 to FSchmidt for getting us on a roll here.

(Grudging +1 to Winston for taking a real life road trip that got it all started... )

You guys are welcome down here in Ensenada, but Tijuana has cheaper accommodations, more restaurants, etc. Plus it's right at the border, plus it has an airport.

Dust off those passports, lads!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. If people fly down there, why not have a 4 or 5 day meetup? Why only a weekend? If someone doesn't have the time, they can just come for a weekend.

You can organize it by finding out who's interested and then coordinating the time and place. Kind of like how Mark Davis did with his meetup. Or just announce a time and place and see who shows up.

When I said TJ was rowdy, I meant it was noisy and distracting. Too noisy for us to sit and talk and get acquainted. Plus we'd be distracted by all the eye candy girls around. And hustlers would be bothering us too.

I'll send this thread to my mailing list to see who's interested.

I'm from India. You guys should meet up and join forces and share ideas...I will be soon going to Philippines and hope we could do something similar there....

Its very very important that like minded people join forces and talk and share ideas in these times....It may look simple...but in these times metaphysically...its so important to be in a group that have similar vibes...it will be felt all across humanities consciousness...all ideas that comes into your minds....

I have a feeling it will be a kind of Shamanic meeting...from outside..it would look all fun, girls and party nothing bad in that but the thoughts and ideas you will share will be very important to many....Also, you will notice that as soon as you won't care about the girls at all and concentrate on talking higher points...soon, all girls will be all around you...when you don't chase them...they will be all around us...

The power is now in group thinking not being on an individual line of thought...blind trust and faith on each other is the way to go...Their number 1 weapon as we all know is Divide and Rule ...When we join forces.....Its the end of the darkness....

For some reason...I have noticed when conspiracy, truther movement, alternative thinkers try to meet and join forces...all sorts of barriers come on our way...but when we decide to go to a rock concert, movie etc everything falls into its place...SO BE CAREFUL....The invisible force aka AI (artificial intelligence) will try to put all sorts of barrier , it will try to put all sorts of negative, questionable thoughts on not meeting guys who thinks like you......it knows our worth than we do ourselfs...

This darkness is making its final move in turning this matrix 180 degrees opposite...We need to move as well....Join Forces....

If we have higher thoughts, a desire to do better for everyone...even if only two guys think alike ...nothing will happen on the trip...NOTHING WILL. Guaranteed...The power of group thinking is tremendous....you can move mountains...No will be be able to touch you in TJ ...

Just meet up guys....good luck

Count me in guys. I've been lurking here for the last few months in preparation for my first trip to the Philippines and now that this great idea has come up, I'll make the commitment to go and meet up. Personally, I like the idea of meeting in San Diego first for a few days (then TJ?) but am open to whatever the group decides.

I just returned from Thailand recently (stayed 3 months this time) and now have my sights set on the Philippines. I'm looking forward to meeting other like minded friends at this meet up and sharing our knowledge and friendship.

I just sent this announcement to the mailing list.

fschmidt, by the way, another reason to have a separate meeting in San Diego is because some members here may not even have a passport to go to TJ yet. So you gotta consider that too.

That's why it makes sense to have a meeting in both places and just let whoever can make either one show up.

Is anyone familiar with San Diego? Where would be a good place to meet there? Preferably somewhere affordable and convenient. I'm not sure how many are up for camping near the beach.

This might require making reservations at a motel and reserving a room in a restaurant, pub or lounge.
