A brief snippet of American Foreign Policy

Post by Futureexpat »

One thing I cant help but laugh at is the blatant hypocrisy exhibited by Americans. Some maintain that our government is so noble, and good. Most Americans love condemning other governments of being corrupt yet ignoring corruption by our own government. Our politicians quite openly are taking bribes, and brag about committing torture. Heres a slideshow of how the US has been democratic overseas. Often times Americans are ignorant, and wonder stuff like "Why do people around the world hate us?"

Unfortunatly its not that detailed but if you do your research you will note that the USA supported numerous atrocities committed abroad.

Read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman," and "Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire," for a more in-depth analysis of American hegemony throughout the world. We have over 1000 bases overseas--even in Europe--where the Cold War ended 20 years ago and where the social safety nets are much stronger than in the United States. We are basically subsidizing the welfare states of many rich nations including countries like Germany and Japan. The US needs to close all of their overseas bases, and divert some of the money to fix America's crumbling infrastructure and deteriorating public education system instead.
