Who here has been accused of being "easily bored"?

Post by miss_conduct »

How's everyone doing? As a child/tween I was described as "bright" and "imaginative" and teachers claimed I could read at a level a few grades above that of my peers..of course, I always got marked down in the "works and plays well in a group" department, probably due to personality traits I harbored that go against the grain of what is "normal" in America

I was also put in "Behavior Disorders" class starting from kindergarten on up...Yes, you heard that right, such a thing existed. My elementary school was quite backwards. I'll elaborate more on my experience of "playing hooky" from BD class, and the ultimate punishment it led to, in a later post :D

I got frequently accused of being "bored easily" and "needing excitement" between the ages of 12-14, and now, looking back and reading the literature here, and the ebook as well....I have come to the conclusion that I was NOT easily bored, like a wannabe Jesse James thrill-seeking type-bt as a creative thinker, I was stultified by a banal, uncreative social environment that lacked vibrance, soul, and authenticity-and so that put me in the category of "craving danger and excitement".

I think "boredom" is what one feels when they are a creative soul who is stifled by their bland, passionless environment.

I haven't been posting much lately..I did manage to catch a few mice pics of Winston, wife and son...Looking at Angelo now he muct be pre-K...Will he be home-schooled? I always regret that I did not get to attend a Montessori school environment. It would have been the best thing to happen to me!

Hope everyone's holidays are going well and smoothly. This has been a great time of year for me to get creative! I've been working on handmade gifts. :D

I was labeled a slow learner half of my young childhood but that was due to a combination of shyness and not wanting to participate in class cause I was never given reasons WHY I needed to do or learn something. I was put in these one on one redial classes with some child sociologist or something, I can't remember exactly cause I was only in first grade. So even though I was creative type, instead of acting out I withdrew within myself. After being labeled 'developmentally slow' I was then labeled 'gifted' for a few years when I actually had a decent teacher in elementary that understood me and somehow was able to ignite my true self until I got a new teacher that then destroyed it again.

I send my daughter to a Waldorf school, how I wish I could have gone to that kind of school as a kid. I would never have her sent to a public school, they are modern experimental, politically correct sociological, conformist, prisons for kids. No thank you.

About my "playing hooky" from BD class...this is kinda a funny story:)

When the time came to go straight to BD class...I just stayed in the regular classroom (no, I didn't have elaborate schemes for ":hiding places"

UNTIL...one day...one BD classmate stopped by to "escort" me on out of there. When I got there, and the gig was up-I was grilled about "Why are you not coming here like you are supposed to??" How do you explain that the reason you do not come is because you want to move up the food chain??

Then I was told there would be a consequence for ducking out of BD class, and it was that I would not be permitted to make Christmas ornaments as a fun activity...Looking back, I think to myself, you've got the rest of your life for Christmas ornament making...but only one or two opportunities to be "normal".

You said it, Public school=Secret indoctrination centers! :P
