Why are American/Canadian women glued to their smart phones?

YES! I mentioned this many times.

Now in other countries people DO BROWSE their phones when they are very bored sometimes! But most of the time they are NOT! It was very refreshing to actually SEE INTEREST in women's eyes EVERYWHERE I WENT in Ukraine! Girls look at me and I can see it in their eyes that they are evaluating me as a potential date material! THAT'S FREAKING GREAT! I want to go back ASAP, money is the only thing holding me in the U.S. right now.
