Keep in mind that there is a significant portion of women who do not consider themselves to be pretty. Or at least not as pretty as men think they are. So when someone calls them pretty, because they don't believe themselves to be pretty, they take things the wrong way. Someone thinks you're beautiful enough for a $50 tip? If you don't believe your looks warrant that, then you might assume the person giving you that is a weirdo.

Probably some women will object to the whole concept of being bought too.
