The communists tried to achieve in Russia what later became of North Korea, China, Vietnam, etc. But they never came anywhere near that level of brainwashing. Nobody worshipped Lenin or Trotsky the way North Koreans worship Kim il Sung.

I could easily make that case about Obama. Russians didn't kneel to a picture of Stalin and thank him when recovering from surgeries or illnesses. Nobody today cries over Stalin's grave.. Don't be ridiculous. Ronald Reagan had a personality cult, but even Ronald Reagan's funeral was a low key affair. His corpse wasn't turned into tourist attraction like Lenin's.
