How bad is our hermit society?

Post by TD-40 »

So bad that people don't know their neighbors at all.

We are cold, distant, and lonely. We come home from work, spend most time indoors, go to bed, and do it all again tomorrow. You might see someone on weekends but for the most part our society has lost the glue that holds itself together.

From my reading these socialist style/ communist dictatorship countries are like this. This is not the America I was born into at all.

Essentially most people are to stupid to figure out all the power centers have been captured and are putting out total bunk.
The closer you are too the bunk the worse it will be, I live in a college town and the main state college here is putting out total BS and the community college is not as bad but they are ramping it up more there as well....

They want us all to be transient with no roots nor any property rights and we are pretty much there.

It's not just hermitism, it's threat. Every damn thing is illegal or arbitrarily actionable. Since there's little to no "or else" toward any level of law enforcement, there's only their inclinations & other people's counteractions to keep things from going bad. Not that anyone really cares about something being bad- they're too busy pretending they're special forces, which they think have no conscience.

The last Saturday morning in August, my wife noticed that some of our neighbors had a moving truck outside their home. After watching with the kids for a minute or two, she acknowledged that she had never seen the people before. I recognized the man, though I had never spoken to him—he seemed to purposefully avoid eye contact. Though not technically next door, all that separated our townhouses was about 30 feet that included some lawn, a half dozen bushes, and a couple of trees.
Not that bad here in Japan in case of single houses or attached townhouses, people talk to each other, know a little bit about each other. Japanese are very homogenous people, very similar to each other and they will talk to all other Japanese next to them. - They feel comfortable to be in a group. - The problem is more about high rising condominium buildings in large Japanese cities. Nobody knows anymore who is living next door.

Just talked with a neighbor of mine down the street, she told me she has no friends here in this town and has been here for 19 years this holloween.

She said it was blowing her mind how stupid this country has become America as of late. She was not very happy at all single and no children.

We agreed America blows today and she referred to how it was growing up in the 70's.

Sounds like what I keep hearing. How did it go from the 70s to now?

That is a sad article but it is true, Americans truly are anti social. Welcome to modern day America!

It's also the hyper-competitive culture where neighbors and so-called 'friends' backstab betray or spy on each other along with all the gossipy social media tools of today. Maybe humanity really can't handle all the new communication technology responsibly where there used to be respectable boundaries.

Exactly, Americans are hyper competitive and this may cause people to be wary of others and thus avoid talking to their neighbors.
