US-Mexico immigration flow now at net zero!

Post by Winston »

Did anyone watch ABC news today? They said that the immigration flow between the US and Mexico is now at net zero, because about 1.4 million Mexicans every year now are MOVING BACK to Mexico now, which equals the ones coming in to look for work as well. They even interviewed a Mexican immigrant who moved back to Mexico. She said to an ABC reporter that she has more freedom and rights in Mexico. I'm surprised ABC didn't edit that out. How could they dare show an immigrant saying that they have more freedom and rights in their own country than in the US? That's unprecedented. lol

Does anyone know why this is? Is it because Mexico's economy is improving? Or because there are less jobs in the US for them?

Anyone have an article link to this story?

Probably the jobs. Mexico's violence is taming down, and their economy is doing better

Its actually old news. The Mexicans stopped coming to work in the US around 2002. The US government made the wall on the border to keep US citizens from leaving the country after the Mexicans stopped coming.

You can buy any expensive medicine just about in Mexico for almost nothing. Painkillers, Viagra, etc. As life here got more expensive it stopped being worthwhile coming here.. Also at some point all the Mexicans that strongly prefer to be Americans will eventually be here at some point. The die hard Mexicans will eventually return to Mexico. Also life here is hard in general. As hard working as Mexicans are, there are still many that are the stereotypical, chillin on the porch with a long siesta, while wearing a sombrero types... They would prefer the old fashion pace of life instead. Can't blame them.

No, she said it right there. Her very next sentence was "Because you dont have to hide. You can go places" presumably without fear of deportation. That is all she was referring to. She can do things legally, like work, and she can walk and drive around without worrying about being deported.

She likely wasnt talking about constitutional rights or liberties.

Hey check this out. The NY Times now reports that more Americans are moving INTO Mexico than Mexican immigrants are entering the US!

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/22/world ... exico.html

“There is this energy here, this feeling that anything can happen,” said Lesley Téllez, a Californian whose three-year-old business running culinary tours served hundreds of clients here last year. “It’s hard to find that in the U.S.”

The shift with Mexico’s northern neighbor is especially stark. Americans now make up more than three-quarters of Mexico’s roughly one million documented foreigners, up from around two-thirds in 2000, leading to a historic milestone: more Americans have been added to the population of Mexico over the past few years than Mexicans have been added to the population of the United States, according to government data in both nations.

Mexican migration to the United States has reached an equilibrium, with about as many Mexicans moving north from 2005 to 2010 as those returning south. The number of Americans legally living and working in Mexico grew to more than 70,000 in 2012 from 60,000 in 2009, a number that does not include many students and retirees, those on tourist visas or the roughly 350,000 American children who have arrived since 2005 with their Mexican parents.

Mr. Wu the plan is to merge US Canada and Mexico together for UN 21. So the countries will look the same long term.
