Jamesbond, have you seen the new 007 movie?

Post by Winston »

If so, what did you think?

I thought it was so bad that they must have been trying to make it bad, a total disgrace to the franchise. The only good thing was the eye candy of the Bond girl, played by Olga, even though nothing happened between them.

I mean, I already think lowly of the Bond films and never understood the appeal of it. It's fake, cheesy, very predictable, and not very original. So I don't get why so many are fans of this franchise.

Plus, what's the point of watching someone who's invincible and can never be killed no matter what the odds? Doesn't that take the fun out of it?

In this latest movie, Quantum of Solace, Bond actually acts like a thug and asshole, and somehow the film tries to glorify that, which is kind of sick. I always thought Bond was supposed to be a man of class and charm.

But this new Bond played by Daniel Craig, does not seem charming at all. I don't even think he's good looking. He looks like a thug with a rugged face rather than a handsome clean cut smooth face. Craig has no charm or charisma either. So I don't get why so many Bond fans like his portrayal of Bond.

Anyhow, this new Bond makes it even worse, in my view. There's not even any humor in it. I don't get what the filmmakers were trying to do, but whatever it was, a lot of people think they failed.

I thought that Pierce Brosnan's Bond was cheesy and plastic enough, but compared to Daniel Craig, at least Brosnan is charming and looks the part of James Bond.

Most people on IMDB don't like it that much, but a few rave about it as though it were deep and complex. Yeah right.

Again, I've never understood the appeal of James Bond movies. The ending of them is the exact same every single time. This time though, they tried to do something new and break with the tradition. There were no gadgets, no humor, no famous line "The name's Bond, James Bond". Instead they just portray him as a complete heartless asshole.

I think it says bad about America when they start glorifying thugs and assholes with no heart or feeling and people see that as being brilliant! WTF?!

Even with the movie Dark Knight, where they were trying to pull the same type of realism and seriousness (which is an oxymoron for a super hero movie), at least the character of Batman is a good guy who does good things, and not a thug or cold hearted bastard.

The 'dark knight' isn't exactly an oxymoron. It could mean a knight in the dark, meaning that Batman fights crime in night. he is also called the Caped crusader for the same reason. Since knights are the epitome of law and justice, it's just that Batman brings justice in an unorthodox manner.

Actually I have not seen it yet. I liked the older bond movies with Sean Connery and Roger Moore more than the newer ones. Roger Moore is actually my favorite person to play James Bond. He was sophisticated, humorous and classy. My favorite bond film is, " a view to a kill" which was Roger Moore's last bond film which came out in 1985. I love the scenic views of San Francisco in that film (I haven't been to San Fran since I visited it when I was back in high school). My favorite bond girl is in that movie as well, Tanya Roberts, who was also one of the tv shows, Charlie's Angels girls. Great opeing credits in that film by the way, great theme song and lot's of hot women. Check out the opening credits here;

That's not what I meant. I mean that the producers of Dark Knight were trying to make it more serious and realistic, rather than follow the usual cliches. This is a new trend among remakes and reboots of classic franchises. But the thing is, how can you try to make something realistic when there is a caped crusader running around with a cape and mask? See what I mean? That point was brought up on IMDB too. Giving realism to super hero films is the oxymoron.

Contrast Dark Knight with the other great Batman remake "Batman Returns" with Michael Keaton. That one was not serious at all, but fun, silly, campy with a lot of symbolism and imagery. So it wasn't trying to be serious. But Dark Knight was trying to be.

I like Roger Moore too. He was a man of true class and carried himself well. Connery was good looking, but kind of dull for me. My favorite Bond girl is that one in Octopussy, the tall blonde one that sleeps with Bond then steals something from him. She was mega mega hot. There was another great blonde one where she and Bond are making out at the end inside a ball sphere in the water, but I forget the name of that movie.

San Francisco is a nice city with a vibe of it's own. But it's only nice if you're a tourist. If you live there, different story. And if you don't go there expecting to hook up with great dates......

Have you seen Casino Royale at least? If so, what did you think of it? And of Daniel Craig?

By the way, what happened to your avatar? Can you reupload it? I just changed the theme of the forum again, but my avatar still shows. What happened to yours? The limitations of the avatar are still the same, I just checked.

I did see Casino Royal and thought it was pretty good, not as good as some of the previous bond films but decent at least. I too, loved that hot blond in Octopussy who had breasts so perfect, god himself would want to fondle them! :D  I also loved the first bond girl in the first bond movie, "Dr. No." She is from eastern Europe I believe, maybe the Ukraine.

I just put up a new avatar, who maybe hotter than the previous one I had up! Now this chick would make a great bond girl (assuming she can act a little). :D

What did you think of the actor who played James Bond in Casino Royale?

About Octopussy, I meant the blonde that betrays him, not the redhead or brunette he ends up with at the end. Her breasts were ok, but her face and figure were angelic and magnificent.

I also liked the horny bad Russian girl in the first Pierce Brosnan Bond movie back in 1995, Golden Eye. She was a big turn on and could kill people with her thighs. Sometimes the women that Bond ends up with at the end are not as hot as the ones he meets in the middle that betray him. lol

I like Sean Connery and Roger Moore more so than Daniel Craig. Although, the more films he does, the better he may get.

Casino Royale was so not James Bond. They shouldve left Bond the way it was. Now they have made him half the man he was.

Jamesbond,
Have you seen the new James Bond movie "Spectre" with Daniel Craig? I just saw it. Wasn't bad. Pretty good actually. Every moment was very suspenseful. It had some new action scenes that haven't been done before. Features a new hot blonde who looks like Scarlett Johansson too.

But James Bond is too invincible and does too many impossible feats. He is also always conveniently lucky in that whenever he falls from buildings he always lands on nets or couches that save him, as if the universe were always on his side, or hes the luckiest man in the world. Yeah right. No way. And as usual, James Bond can shoot anyone he wants and always hits them, from any distance, but no one who shoots at him can ever hit him, which is true in every Bond film. Lol

At the end, James Bond bringing down a bullet proof helicopter with just a handgun from very far away was total bullshit and way too bogus, even for a Bond film. No way. They should have thought of a better ending than that.

Daniel Craig looks evil in his eyes, like Anakin Skywalker did when he turned to the dark side of the force. He looks cold and ruthless with no soul. Not handsome or charming like the other james bonds befote. I dont get the appeal of that. In fact, Daniel Craig played a villain in the movie "Elizabeth" in which he plotted to assassinate Queen Elizabeth as a Catholic spy, but was caught and tortured. Haha.

Btw, how is James Bond a spy exactly? All his enemies know who he is and who he works for -- British intelligence. He always uses the same name wherever he goes, proudly flaunting his identity so that he is recognized. And he does not infiltrate any enemy organizations or pretend to work for any criminal groups like spies do.

So technically James Bond is not a spy. He just walks around openly like an invincible man. Lol. A spy or "secret agent" cant always be in the spotlight like Bond always is, else it defeats the purpose and is self-contradicting. Lol

In the intelligence field when an agent is identified by the other side, he or she is compromised, aka "outed", and can no longer work as a spy.

Maybe thats why in this new 007 movie, James Bond is referred to as an assassin, not a spy.

I have not seen the new Bond movie yet, it has gotten mixed reviews so far. I will rent it as soon as it comes out on Netflix.

Winston, here is a clip of some scenes from Octopussy, the movie that had the hot blonde in it that you like. You will see various clips of her in this video. :D

Screw Bond. I would much rather watch a Mr. Wu film on the big screen.

I would like to see a film where he just destroys the ruling elite class single handedly, this is of course after he films " Paper Moon Rising " with Star Child.

Hello Winston and Jamesbond, I can tell you I have seen the latest 007 film 'Spectre'. I think it was a good movie over all. In fact I believe Spectre could be a fictional account of how REAL SECRET SOCIETIES such as the Illuminati may function!!! However, there was just one scene that I thought would be nearly impossible to pull off in the real world. That was when Bond (played by Daniel Craig) shoots down a helicopter with his pistol at a great distance! But if film makers had given 007 a hand-held rocket propelled or surface to-air missile launcher (a Stinger, RPG-7 or AT-4 ), a .50 caliber sniper rifle, or even an assault weapons such as a AK-47/103, HK G-36, etc. that scene would have been more believable. But I do love the British exotic/luxury cars in this movie like the new Aston Martin DB10, Jaguar, and the Land/Range Rovers. As for the past James Bond films, my favorites happen to be 'You Only Live Twice' (1967) by Sean Connery; 'Live And Let Die'(1973) and 'Moonraker' (1979) by Roger Moore; 'The Living Daylights' (1987) by Timothy Dalton; 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997) and 'Die Another Day' (2002) by Pierce Brosnan.

What do you mean how the elite function, they have unlimited money via counterfeiting and the whole system is designed to deflect this fact away from the sheepel's simple little minds.

Jamesbond,
What do you think of my new avatar? lol

Also, what do you think of Timothy Dalton's James Bond? I didn't think it was very good. Seemed bland and mediocre.

Moretorque,
Yes you are right. The Illuminati and banking families don't need money. They have an unlimited supply of it and can create it out of nothing. Money is just a tool for them to enslave and manipulate the masses. They don't need it themselves. What they crave is power. However, those on the lower rung of power, such as corrupt politicians and corporations, do get the money they want. So some levels of the hierarchy are in it for the money. They have to be paid off and rewarded for their compliance in the system and with the elite's plans.
